BWS video interview
https://youtu.be/yY6HwW1bQYE
The ever elusive BWS has finally given an interview on Youtube in advance of his new book Monsters coming out next week. Definitely an interesting watch even though the 'serious graphic novel guy' interviewer is dismissive toward Valiant.
If you think about BWS' body of work, Valiant is a huge chunk of it while he's in his mature prime. His Ultraverse stuff was pretty minor, and while Storyteller was great none of the stories really got past the introducing stage. His work on most of the key early Valiant moments and designing things like the Spider Aliens made his aesthetic THE early Valiant aesthetic. The man is a genius, and hopefully he knows how much the Valiant fans appreciate him.

BWS's work on A&A is the best, IMO.

Finished it!
More BWS goodness:
"All I knew was it would end at some point and it would end... when I finished the story."
"The tearing of hair...the frustration...the screaming.....at nobody in particular."
"But there's nothing in there, at this time, I'm unhappy about!"
"If I can't hear them speaking in my head, I cannot draw!"

Lots of Barry gems. He's fully dedicated to his art even though it obviously takes a toll on him.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 11:45:14 am Finished it!

I soaked in this whole interview and then ordered a signed copy of Monters directly from Fantagraphics

Thanks for posting this. I loved the interview. BWS covers were one of the key draws for me as a kid to read VALIANTRyan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 6:22:40 pm https://youtu.be/yY6HwW1bQYE
