They even have three pitches for a Sliders/Quantum Leap crossover that would have taken place in the comics.

Used to be a rock and roll singer switching to country was an attempt to boost a sagging career. Just as Hootie (or maybe he was the Blowfish? I am not totally sure how that worked) or Tiffany.
I would imagine Beyonce would have a good while to go before her career got to that point even out of just sheer inertia, so maybe she is indulging a creative whim? If I didn’t occasionally watch the Stephanie Miller Show, I wouldn’t know that I am supposed to be mad about Beyonce doing a country album.
Like putting an oyster in a blue beer.
