Identity of 'Map Giver' in X-O Manowar?
This may have been answered here, but the search function didn't find any reference.
Remember that Valiant Era/Wizard contest?
The first question was "Who was the 'Map Giver' that told Aric were to find the X-O armor?"

It's not easy bein' cheesy...the rest of the book rocked!BodaZoffa wrote:It was hinted at that he was Elvis, but it was never eally said. This was the only thing I did not like about the first issue. I thought it was kind of cheesey to put Elvis in there.

Your right. It was issue #0. Issue #1 made reference to the map giver, but never showed him. In issue #0 it showed the map giver carving the map onto Aric's hand.dave wrote:was that in the first issue? i remember it clearly in the zero issue, but not so much in the first.
i'm not saying you're wrong, i really don't remember.
By the way.... how do you guys pronouce Aric. Is it (R' ic) or (AIR ic)?

Anyone with the X-O Manowar trade paperback should check
the two-page "people of the X-O books" mystery game...
there's another image of the mapgiver there.
But to spoil the party (or liven it up)... yes, the mapgiver was
supposed to be Elvis. Maybe they kept him alive so he could
sing for them about trees.

Since I share that first name with Mr. Dacia, the "proper" pronunciation is R'ic or AR-ic.BodaZoffa wrote:By the way.... how do you guys pronouce Aric. Is it (R' ic) or (AIR ic)?
However, most people assume that it's just a fancy way of saying Eric, and choose to use the air-IC pronunciation.
I hate those people, so in most conversations, I just drop the "A" off of the name, so I don't decide to pummel people after having corrected them six times.

Later,

<<You gotta remember Joe Q drawing the book. I had 'heard' something back in the day that it was Joe Q getting with the writer to make sure it was 'ok' to put him in there. I thought it was cheesy yet funny... as in 'Elvis didnt DIE, he was abducted by Aliens' theme.>>
Joe Q had NOTHING to do with the identity of the Map Giver.
It is Elvis and it was something Shooter and I came up with as an "in joke' back when the series was originally being conceived.
