Re: ‘Valiant Beyond’ Reboots The Universe With New-Reader Friendly, Revamped Takes On The Icons
I was all for the Alien “closure” books at first, but each one was worse than the last. Hopefully there will be improvement with “Beyond.” These characters and their legacy deserve better.

Hopefully it’s better than the last issue. That was one of the worst piles of

Re: Resurgence of the VALIANT Universe
We’re a few books in and this is how I’d rank them this far:
1. Faith Returns: Most tightly written and consistent in art and characterization thus far
2. Rai: Book of the Darque: Interesting stuff with the Howling War
3. Brittania: Great Fire of Rome: Not the best offering of Brittania, but the ...

Re: Bloodshot Unleashed Reloaded #3
Thought this was a steep drop off from the last issue, which seemed promising. Was expecting a lot more than “indestructible, five-faced, giant Bloodshot with a tesseract (?) in its head” for the villain.
Also, it’s Bloodpuss…seriously, that’s the cat’s name. But it’s just a projection of Jesse’s ...

Re: Rai: The Book of the Darque #1
This was better than the other recent Alien launches. Felt a bit rushed like those, with too much exposition in order to squeeze everything into 2 issues, but the plot was at least intriguing.

Deathmate was used as the name for the post-death incarnation of Kay McHenry, the Geomancer killed in The Valiant.etos45 wrote: Mon May 20, 2024 10:16 am I've got to ask, it's been awhile. Did the entire Deathmate series show up or is there a character named Deathmate?![]()

Re: xo 1 invictus is so dumb it put holes in my brain
This was…not great. Art was inconsistent (started off terrible, picked up a bit later). Ending was awkward. Aric can’t talk to Shanharra but he can still use the armor just fine?

Re: The Valiants #1
The first half (the pages that were in the FCBD book) was decent. The second half…not so much. Honestly would have been fine with the discovery of this new Boon as the cliffhanger ending and adding some more exposition in the next issue.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Since it was FCBD I gave a few new launches a try…
Bloodhunt #1 (Marvel): Fast paced launch to the Summer event. Interesting if predictable twist at the end. A few potential deaths (which of course won’t last). The whole thing feels pretty repetitive though: Just had a big Vampire story around ...

Re: Livewire & the Secret Weapons (one shot)
Glad to see these characters revisited and working on their powers, but giving them too much control over/them and/or powering them up kinda ruins the initial concept that was so interesting.
The Livewire stuff was kinda weird, but the mysterious manipulator kept it intriguing…then it turned out ...

Re: Britannia: The Great Fire of Rome
This was just OK for me. I enjoyed the appearances by the Anni-Pada clan, and the Geomancer reveal. But the overall “mystery” didn’t really draw me in and Axia’s obsession with the dying one just seemed unnecessary. It was a little too Sam Spade for me.

Re: Bloodshot Unleashed Reloaded #1
Didn’t read this right away because of some of the early reviews I read here, but with the “Resurgence” announcement I figured I’d catch up. Issue 1 was decent. Obviously a continuation of the previous run, but I liked the twist and the inclusion of Bloodsquirt . Issue 2 was rather good, I thought ...

Unity is a no brainer, but Armor Hunters and Harbinger Wars were both incredible. Was never really feeling The Valiant, but admittedly I was in the middle of checking out of Valiant completely when it came out.
Not sure The Valiant even counts as an Event. It was really just an EW ...

Here's mine:
1. Dysart's Psiot Cycle
2. Solar #1-11, followed by Unity.
3. Venditti's X-O Manowar, including Unity Vol. 1 and Armor Hunters.
4. BWS' Archer & Armstrong
5. Van Lente's Archer & Armstrong
6. Kindt's Rai and 4001, followed by Abnett's Rai.
7. Divinity 1-3
8. The Valiant
9. Kindt's X ...

If Unity doesn’t win in a landslide, I’d be surprised, but my second vote would be for Harbinger Wars. Love everything from Josh Dysart.

Re: Resurgence of the VALIANT Universe
Have to say, I had my doubts when the rights went to Alien, but I’ve been impressed with the creative teams being announced. The previews are the best the VALIANT books have looked in a while and it sounds like they’re developing/continuing the shared continuity from VEI/DMG before a soft reboot ...

Received my copy on Saturday. Box had a big “Fragile: Handle with Care” sticker on it. Packaging was as described: just some paper around the book, which was in a plastic bag with the bookmark and order info. Luckily, mine was not damaged at all. Yet to read it, but the quality of the cover, binding ...

They're WAVE 2 PART 1 pricing range already was $7.99 to $9.99!
Still less than $125 and could sell far more.
Sure, but you can also just read and flip the hardcover collection without much of a loss.
I’m not in the reselling business. If I buy it, it’s because I want it.

They’ve made so much $$$ off of this Kickstarter—over $365,000—one has to wonder how much they could make through normal distribution methods. Obviously that’s extremely successful, but all that cash comes from only 1600 backers. Seems like they could reach a larger audience and still make that ...
