Bloodshot Unleashed Reloaded #3
Issue 1 of this series by Dennis Camp was poor, didn’t read issue 2, picked this one up as there’s a new writer. It’s marginally better than Dennis Camp but that’s not a high bar.
The problem with this book is…
a) there’s too many convenient plot points, for example, having the exact type of Psiot, who can fill Bloodshot in on the new big bad guy approaching. Secondly there’s a ‘pocket dimension’ where Bloodshot can access any gun ever made with unlimited ammo
b) there’s constant explanation as to what’s happening. Because these books are ‘one and done’ style the writer is having to explain to the reader what’s going on and why
c) the art or more specifically the faces. Bloodshot often looks like a half done sketch. The rest of the art is decent though and a lot of work has clearly gone into some of the panels
d) Bloodsquirt…that character served its purpose in the Lemire run, it’s a rip off of bat mite or whatever, just drop it
e) poor dialogue throughout. Using the F bomb doesn’t make the book ‘edgy’ if the plot line and characters are laughable
So from what I can gather, the latest ‘anti dote’ to Blooshot is called ‘New Blood’ (I think) who’s got 5 heads. He’s coming to destroy Bloodshot for whatever reason. What ever happened to Rampage? Also, Bloodshot’s wife, daughter, bloodhound and bloodshot cat (?) all come together to save the day.
The more I think about this issue the worse it gets.
What was good? The panel with the head exploding, the art (except the faces), the paper stock, the inside cover where someone had clearly gone to great trouble to compose a picture of Darque ale, a gun, bullets etc
2.75/5 - Alien need to get a new editor or whoever picks the talent, there’s too many misses. Alien seem to know a lot about presentation of books (which they do a great job of) but they’ve got the wrong creative people in charge. Read the Jeff Lemire run, where the story builds over time. Absolutely no one is going back and re-reading Bloodshot Unleashed in the future.
I’m done with Bloodshot for the foreseeable

Re: Bloodshot Unleashed Reloaded #3
Thought this was a steep drop off from the last issue, which seemed promising. Was expecting a lot more than “indestructible, five-faced, giant Bloodshot with a tesseract (?) in its head” for the villain.
Also, it’s Bloodpuss…seriously, that’s the cat’s name. But it’s just a projection of Jesse’s nanites.
