Re: Where are all the Valiantfans old timers?
I found this board many times over the years and would read some threads, and do some researching through the conversations I was seeing, but never joining.
Started visiting truly regularly after the 2012 XO Book, but still didn't join until 2014.
I miss when the new published issues section was ...

Re: "We Anticipate Being Able to Focus on Expanding": Valiant Publisher Breaks Down New IDW Deal
I’m still confused on how IDW fit in with Alien??
DMG and Alien have consistently shins themselves to be amateurs when it comes to releasing a quality comic book line. If IDW can take control and (significantly) improve the books then that might be something.
I always wonder who is giving ...

Re: Theebaldmoose aka Chris Amundson
Was very sorry to hear of his passing through the Facebook announcement back in February. He seemed like one of the good ones out there (and here) - I always had good interactions with him. It is getting to be a very surreal experience to learn of online community friends passing away.

Mark Gruenwald's note for writers of the New Universe. He was also the first to do 'real time' progression in Squadron Supreme. Safe to say a lot of the pre-Unity rules started out here.
Curious, where did you find this image? I would like to track down a ...

Re: Are these all the gold covers?
Were the VEI golds only given out at cons? I only saw VEI at one convention (Miami in 2015 I think) but I picked up a bunch second hand over the years.
I think that was the main way they were distributed but not the only way. I bought all of mine already slabbed so was not the original owner ...

Wow, man - that’s is exceptionally awesome!
I would love to get a copy of that issue at that grade aline, never mind with the cool signature.

I don’t like to be harsh, but I sincerely hope that FCBD cover is “not final art” as it says… it’s pretty amateur-hour work.

Re: Catching Up
Harbinger was okay. The potential was there, but like with much of the rest it becomes too generic at one point.
Everything Josh Dysart did with Harbinger was gold, as far as I’m concerned… anything that came after felt like increasingly duller echoes of his run. Some of it I couldn’t bear to ...

It’s definitely one of the better series of the DMG era of VEI.ManofTheAtom wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:35 pm The Bunn Shadowman series was good. I'm curious to find out if the Blights are connected to Resurgence. They better be.

I liked … Psi-Lords, and would like to see more.
Somebody had to, I guess.
It was good. A lot of cool mythology, and making Scion Ravenrok's flunkie IS accurate with the original.
I didn’t mind the VEI Psi-Lords series too much, although I wouldn’t rave about it either. Definitely ...

I wish it had been more focused on the reveal that she is an Anni-Padda rather than left that for infodump at the end.
She really didn't come off as the protagonist of the mini-series, that role went to the scientist looking for the armor. And the connection ...

Re: I'm not exactly a prude, but...
It’s a little jarring to see some occasional nudity in the Alien books but it’s nothing to get upset about as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t personally care if it’s there or not - it doesn’t really impact my enjoyment of the story either way, but if it is hamfisted I would find it to be a rather ...

Also, it was unforgivably lazy that the artist actually used Prince’s old symbol name as a magical glyph representing Darque’s power attack in one panel. Ridiculous! Make up your own magical sigils or use something that isn’t so specifically & obviously tied to an incongruous element of pop ...

Re: The Darques Soulside #2 (of 2)
Sorry to say it, but I thought this issue was not as good as #1. Not sure why they couldn’t keep the same artist for these two issues, but it hurt the overall quality of the story in my opinion. And while I am a fan of FVL and thought the first issue had a good moody story going on, this issue felt ...

Re: The Darques Soulside #1
This was pretty good! Enjoyed the story and dialogue by FVL, and the art was generally quite good too (an extremely minor nitpick was that I thought Darques top hat looked a bit off much of the time - speaking from personal experience, I find hats can be tricky to draw at times. It’s very easy to ...
