DMG and Alien have consistently shins themselves to be amateurs when it comes to releasing a quality comic book line. If IDW can take control and (significantly) improve the books then that might be something.

Was very sorry to hear of his passing through the Facebook announcement back in February. He seemed like one of the good ones out there (and here) - I always had good interactions with him. It is getting to be a very surreal experience to learn of online community friends passing away.

Were the VEI golds only given out at cons? I only saw VEI at one convention (Miami in 2015 I think) but I picked up a bunch second hand over the years.


I think that was the main way they were distributed but not the only way. I bought all of mine already slabbed so was not the original owner ...

I don’t like to be harsh, but I sincerely hope that FCBD cover is “not final art” as it says… it’s pretty amateur-hour work.

Harbinger was okay. The potential was there, but like with much of the rest it becomes too generic at one point.

It’s definitely one of the better series of the DMG era of VEI.

It was good. A lot of cool mythology, and making Scion Ravenrok's flunkie IS accurate with the original.

I wish it had been more focused on the reveal that she is an Anni-Padda rather than left that for infodump at the end.

She really didn't come off as the protagonist of the mini-series, that role went to the scientist looking for the armor. And the connection ...

It’s a little jarring to see some occasional nudity in the Alien books but it’s nothing to get upset about as far as I’m concerned.

Also, it was unforgivably lazy that the artist actually used Prince’s old symbol name as a magical glyph representing Darque’s power attack in one panel. Ridiculous! Make up your own magical sigils or use something that isn’t so specifically & obviously tied to an incongruous element of pop ...

Sorry to say it, but I thought this issue was not as good as #1. Not sure why they couldn’t keep the same artist for these two issues, but it hurt the overall quality of the story in my opinion. And while I am a fan of FVL and thought the first issue had a good moody story going on, this issue felt ...

This was pretty good! Enjoyed the story and dialogue by FVL, and the art was generally quite good too (an extremely minor nitpick was that I thought Darques top hat looked a bit off much of the time - speaking from personal experience, I find hats can be tricky to draw at times.
