Re: XO Manowar [2020] #1 Discussion

I sincerely feel bad for anyone who is spending more than $4 for a copy of this comic. I feel bad for anyone even wasting *that* much money on it. But anyone who has bought multiple cover variants, and especially anyone who has spent big money on any higher-ratio variants, has been utterly duped and...

Re: XO Manowar [2020] #1 Discussion

When they relaunched they title with Matt Kindts take on it, I was a little disappointed that they decided to ignore past continuity for the most part to tell a fresh tale, but in that case the continuity was not chucked out the window so much as just set aside while we jumped forward in time a bit....

XO Manowar [2020] #1 Discussion

Now it’s my turn to comment this - wow, no one wants to discuss the new XO, eh? Timing is bad of course, with the pandemic and the self-isolating and all the shutdown/lockdown activity happening, etc. I’ve read the issue and I think it’s absolutely atrocious, and a disgraceful entry in the XO/Valian...

Re: Bloodshot Humble Bundle

So had you heard of Bloodshot or Valiant before the movie buzz? I had heard of him vaguely ... a couple of issues of Faith and also knew of Quantum & Woody... X-O Manowar Vol 1 trade Well the good news is you’ve got a ton of great books to read which you haven’t yet. Forget Faith and Quantum & Wood...

Re: Some Really Crazy Stuff Going On With Mile High Lately

I am very aware of his inflated pricing habits. I had always wanted to buy a comic from there just to say that I did, due to the nostalgia element of growing up seeing his ads in comics for so long. Every time I actually see something if his listed on eBay, I usually laugh at the price. It does not...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

I've been reading more Marvel again lately - still loving Immortal Hulk 30 issues in, really digging the new Ghost Rider series so far with Ketch & Blaze as the main focus, sticking with New Mutants after reading the HOX/POX mini-series, and I was even picking up the recent Avengers issues for the S...

Re: VEI vs DMG Valiant: an honest poll

I still buy everything in anticipation of catching up... but I must admit that just tonight I was wondering why I'm buying comics I don't read. I should probably make some time to start reading again, I heard that Fallen World was pretty good. I would recommend Fallen World. :thumb: I promised myse...

Re: Shadowman coming in May by Bunn, Jon Davis-Hunt, and Bellaire

I really liked the Punk Mambo mini-series but couldn't get past the first issue of Roku. I think the line art style is an interesting choice for this, I like the look in the preview images and I am up for giving it a chance. Colours are gorgeous as usual from Jordie. VMG continues to set the bar dis...

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT April 2020 Solicitations

If the cover direction was for generic action or standing poses, the more generic the better, the cover artists succeeded brilliantly. I hope somebody is keeping track of the number of X-O covers where's he's posing generically with the silly light sword. Quoted for truth. Seriously generic covers ...

Re: Book of the Month - January 2020

I guess I am getting spoiled by modern writers. I really WANT Visitor to be good, but two issues in and the most excitement I have for it is hoping the next issue will be better. I apologize to anyone personally invested in these, but Valiant has been my favorite comic book company since the 90's. ...

Re: Book of the Month - January 2020

I am now so far behind in my Valiant reading that I have not even gotten to any January releases yet. But The Visitor & Rai are the only two that I'm really interested in reading, if I'm being honest.

I’m anticipating what Dino & crew have up their sleeves, and I’m a fan of their creative output based on what they did for VEI. While I’m a lot less enthusiastic about current Valiant output on average, I’m still a Valia...

Re: Is Valiant jinxed?

It's pretty telling that ALL (or at least nearly all) the advertising for Bloodshot trades is around the Swierczynski run on the book. Although if someone bought a Seeley/Booth issue, I doubt they'd be induced into pumping money into an "old" trade. I think the swierczynski run might be the best, b...

In my best David Attenborough voice: "And down here, at this strata, we can see the oldest remnants of the Valiant Period. It continued for some time until the Acclaim cataclysm. Further up, we see the ensuing periods, short-lived though the were. Here, Defiant. And this thin line here is the littl...

Re: Eternal Warrior, Xaran, & his kids

I think that at the time of the Greg Pak run on EW, there was an editorial clash with some of his plot ideas for the title after it got rolling. It had an impact on the direction of that book, and subsequently some of the continuity that was beginning to be established in those two story arcs. The s...

I really think piracy really hurts comics sales more than other media. I really think piracy concerns are overblown in almost all cases, but I feel like it's maybe understated with regards to comics. The small file size and ease of reading makes pirated comics more appealing than the legitimate pro...
