I'm not exactly a prude, but...
....I don't remember anyone saying, "Valiant sales will increase if they show boobies, and get moved from main shelves to mature readers sections."
I'm not saying I'm fully against it, but I've seen no real reason for it yet. I'm just wondering why it's suddenly happening, and if anyone else has any opinion?

It wouldn't be the first time a VALIANT comic has done nudity.slack wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 5:05:42 pm ....I don't remember anyone saying, "Valiant sales will increase if they show boobies, and get moved from main shelves to mature readers sections."

Shadowman Vol. 2 #7 has this page. First example I've found.
The difference between that and Resurgence is that the latter lacks the label for mature readers.

They could have used the same kind of tricks that were used to cover Erica's naked body in Unity #0, or even scamper on the detail like it was done in that page from Solar #13 (let's face it, she's clearly supposed to be naked under that sheer outfit, we just don't see it because it wasn't drawn in detail. Is she still naked if we can't see her nipples just because the artist didn't draw them?)

Another example of obstructions, lack of detail, and/or shadows being used to cover things.

Strategic use of shadows and obstructions to hide things.
Does that hose go in the back or the front?!? We don't know!

Re: I'm not exactly a prude, but...
Honestly, I'm okay with it.
VALIANT is not DC or Marvel or Image or Malibu. It shouldn't do things the way they did, it should do them their own way.

Learning how to draw from reading comics rather than from attending art school? (Now I'm wondering if the Kubert school uses nude models in their art classes like the one in Art School Confidential).

Previous examples of nudity in VALIANT comics that came to mind.
Two-page spread from the Master Darque one-shot. I'll upload the right version later or tomorrow when I can.
VH 2 Sandria Darque in Darque Passages #3.

So MotA is... defending? citing? VH2?
He is saying it is okay for Valiant to do something now because Akklaim did it? The same guy who was saying that everything after X-O went into a VR machine was a lie?

That is not what I am saying at all.
What I am doing is showing multiple examples of nudity in different incarnations of VALIANT.

"Hey gang, AJ Ampadu here. Writer of NINJAK VS ROKU, SHADOWMAN:SOUL EATERS and SHADOWMAN & PUNK MAMBO: TALES FROM THE DEADSIDE.
As some of you may or may not know, SHADOWMAN:SOUL EATERS carries a mature rating.
LIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD
The first issue has a sex scene where some nudity is shown. This has caused some mixed reactions. Many people were unaware of the mature rating.
I posted in the Valiant FB group the following message and I wanted to post it here as well.
"I didn't know that nudity was on the table when I wrote the script. When I got the pages back, I was as surprised as you guys! I think it was a bold move for Alien to go Mature. I think the "HBO-style" presentation works for a sophisticated character like Shadowman. However, everyone should know what they're buying, especially if they have kids. I have a 2-year-old at home and haven't shown him a single page of anything I've written for Valiant. Nudity aside, it's all too mature for him. Shadowman is a character who interacts with themes of Voodoo, witchcraft, and dark magic. These themes may not be suitable for people with varying religious sensibilities. I will leave that up to you to decide.
That said, the books are rated mature, and you should be aware of that moving forward. Shadowman #1 is definitely the most nudity you'll see in Shadowman: Soul Eaters; I don't think there will be any more (I have not seen all the artwork just yet, so don't sue me!), but that was the one and only sex scene in the series. Tales from The Deadside has one panel with a touch of nudity, but it's non-sexual and so small you can easily miss it.
Once again, given his supernatural aesthetic and mature subject matter, I believe this is the right approach for the character. Any nudity is done to make the book feel more authentic and not for gratuitous or exploitative reasons. I hope you guys understand that. If this choice isn't for you, we totally understand. It was done to enhance the story and only that. Hope this clears things up. Happy reading, and thanks for supporting Valiant/Alien." -Cheers AJ"

I have no problem with Shadowman becoming a mature readers title.
Up to this point people, understandably, had no reason to expect nudity in this series since, until now, it had the same rating as the Faith comic...
