Im all for 8-10 books ONLY.. no more.. slow to start... 2 at first.. then within a year introduce 2 more.. then a new book evey 3-4 months AS THE STORY DEEMS NECESSARY..
As far as which books should come first.. Im thinking Solar, XO, Immortal Bro's (w/Archer coming later), Harbinger, Magnus, Rai, Shadowman..

viewtopic.php?t=12035(Disclaimer: Akin to a fantasy football game, this thread is for those who are interested in talking about VALIANT as it be 10 years after it ceased publication and how they think it would look as well as what concepts they think would be the best ones for the new owners to use at the beginning and how. Please don't post about DC Lite or VH 3 or any other nonesense like that, so no goats, no Quantum & Woody, nothing from VH 2 applies).
Resurgence, the VALIANT 2007 event.
A six issue mini series where each issue focuses on an individual VALIANT concept/world in stand alone stories that when combined tell a grander tale at the end of which the VALIANT heroes are fully established in the 21st Century.
Bloodshot (VALIANT World: Espionage)
Concept Summary: A decade after dissapearing in the Arctic tundra, Bloodshot's corpse is found by the Iwatsu Corporation, who subject it to a battery of tests in order to retrieve any and all remaining nanites within so they can use them in the creation of a new corporate warrior that will fight on their side against Harada's Eggbreakers, Bloodshot 2.0.
Rellying on a line up of volunteers from all over the world, Iwatsu finds the perfect specimen in Raymond Garrison, a former FBI undercover agent on the run from the black ops agents he betrayed.
Raymond's transformation into Bloodshot 2.0 inadvertingly leads to the original Bloodshot's revival as the nanites still within his body begin the incredible feat of resurecting what's left of his brain and body, yet despite their ability to reconstitude the physical the nanites are incapable of restoring his soul, thus leaving Michael Lazarus as a blank slate once more. Unable to recall any aspect from his previous life, the man formerlly known as Angelo Mortalli, must find out who he was not only before his latest resurection but also who he was before he became Bloodshot the first time, his only clue being an encoded data file disc that holds a video image of his father.
To complicate matters Iwatsu sends Bloodshot 2.0 against the original nanite-enhanced hero on a mission to stop him before he reveals their breakthroughs to the world and Harada attacks before they are ready to defend themselves.
Elsewhere, Bloodshot's children and Deathangel, the woman who once was Jillian Alcott and Bloodshot's lover, are captured by Harada's operatives and taken to an instalation where the children are killed in experiments designed to analize their unusual nanite-based structure while Jillian herself has all the nanites within her body removed as part of Harada's quest for inmortallity.
Eternal Warrior (VALIANT World: Action-Adventure)
Concept Summary: For the better part of the last decade Gilad, the Eternal Warrior, has witnessed as the world has become increasingly darker, specially in the years following the first salvo in Harada's Corporate Wars against Omen, Iwatsu, Orb, and any others that stand on his way.
Reunited with his brothers Aram and Ivar, as well as Aram's would-be sidekick Archer, Gilad's lead a safe - some might say sheltered - life, but all of this comes to an end when fed up with current events Ivar vanishes into the time stream while Archer, unable to stand idly by and watch his fellow man suffer decides to take a proactive role in stopping Harada's war machine before it destroys any more lives. Alongside the former Harbinger renegade Flamingo, Archer takes the first steps toward creating a peace movement known somewhat derogatorily in the streets as "The Archies" whose main goal is to provide shelter from the conflict to anyone who seeks it.
As the world around him plunges deeper and deeper into darkness, Gilad takes a vow to ensure that the light won't go out no matter the cost as he takes the fight directly against Harada.
Harbinger (VALIANT World: Intrigue)
Concept Summary: From atop his spire atop Harbinger Tower in New York City Toyo Harada lives a life of luxury while the world around him is embroiled in the bloodiest race war the world has ever seen.
Three years ago Harada began a series of Corporate Wars designed to take over all of his competitors, but soon this war moved from the boardroom into the streets as Harbingers, the next-step of human evolution, began to sprout out in bigger numbers all around the world (thanks in no small part to Harada's ability to activate the Harbinger's hidden abilities within their mind).
As the Harbinger subculture (akin to the goths, Wiccans, and other shunned pockets of "deviant" lifestyles before it) grew in number and questionable behaviour around them, the "normal" people of the world, acting in fear, deevolved into racist behaviour unlike any seen in 60 years, behaviour that lead the Harbinger populace to defend itself as best it could, thus Harada's dream of Harbinger supremacy took its first step toward conquering the world... yet, in the light hidden within the shadows hope for both sides of the conflict exist in the form of Pete Stanchek and his rag-tag band of Harbinger renegades, a small group of former Harbinger Corporation students who, 10 years earlier, decided to stop Harada from achieving his dream.
Under Peter's leadership, the Harbinger 8 (as his small band of fugitive Harbinger terrorists is known) fight against Harbingers and normals alike in their quest to bring peace to a fractured world.
Mirage (VALIANT World: Supernatural)
Concept Summary: As the daughter of Hwen Mirage (who died valiently shortly after Jack Boniface destroyed the Darque power in 99), 10 year old Candra Mirage is the most powerful necromancer on the face of the world (akin to Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars or Wyatt from Charmed), which makes her a target for those who survived the death of Master Darque and the drying of the Darque pool, like Sandria Darque, who like a vampire needs to suck in the lifeforce of beings like Candra in order to survive.
Living on the balance between good and evil, light and darque, Candra's a novice in the use of her powers, as well as being no more than a child that still depends on others, like her mother, in order to survive.
When agents working for Sandria capture Candra she is rescued by a most unexpected saviour, the Shadow Man, aka Michael Leroi, a hitman who back in 1999 was hired by Sandria herself to kill Mamma Nettie but failed in his assignment when the voodoo priestest captured his soul in a jar and turned him into a zombie that followed her every command.
Recently Nettie died from natural causes, which released Michael from her control. As a result of Nettie's magics the last eight years are a void for Michael, whose last memory is their encounter in 99. Also unbeknownst to Michael he now shares his body with Jack Boniface's soul, who following Darque's demise was catapulted into the world of Deadside, a netherealm created by Darque's energies where all the souls touched by the Darque power were pulled into at the moment of his destruction.
While on Deadside Jack's constantly hunted by Darque's minions, who under orders from their master want to bring him to Darque's tower so he can use him as a portal back to the real world since as soon as the sun sets on the mortal realm Jack is once more able to walk as a man within Michael's body, while Michael's soul travels to Deadside.
Michael by day, Jack by night, Shadowman lives again...

X-O Manowar (VALIANT World: Science Fiction)
Concept Summary: Recently hired to work for Orb Industries, Donovan Wiley and Renata are soon thereafter contacted by the Good Skin through a video game. Once part of the powerful X-O Manowar, the Good Skin has been broken into individual parts (some kept at Orb HQ and others spread out across the planet) while Aric's kept in stasis within a virtual reality simulator designed to keep him docile and perpetually clueless as to what happens in the outside world.
The Good Skin uses Donovan and Renata to rescue Aric from his virtual prison. Once free Aric dons the few pieces of the armor that Donovan and Renata are able to find within the building (the helmet and a gauntlet) and uses them to break them free.
With Donovan and Renata by his side, Aric searches the globe for the missing pieces of his armor while at the same time he acclimates himself into the darker world that's come as a result of Harada's war.

If VEI (or VIP) does not get licenses for Turok, Magnus and Solar again, I'd like to see them lead off with an Eternal Warrior title, seconded by Bloodshot.
Most would probably say X-O Manowar.
The times have changed since then, though. Would Bloodshot be as successful as he was in the early 90s? Is there an ongoing Punisher book? Heroes don't exactly run into a warehouse guns blazing and kill everything in sight and take off before the cops get there anymore. Bloodshot wasn't all guns blazing, but he was as close as Valiant got out of any character with an ongoing title.
There was a Bloodshot villain, lasted maybe 3 issues. His name was Tex and he worked for the Immortal Enemy and double crossed Bloodshot. He could carry his own series! He had it all, a devil-may-care attitude, the brains to outsmart Bloodshot and keep Immortal Enemy at bay and a snappy wardrobe.
I think I understood the question.

I would do a "Valiant Universe" book (a story re-introducing the major players), and then spin off form there.....
it seems that XO would be the logical starting book, but personaly I'd like Aram and Gilly, (and then Jack as..... Shadowman)
I would not mind a Harbinger a book, with the first cover that cool Sting over the broken car that MAC did!

I think X-O Manowar is the logcal starging monthly assuming that VEI does not get the rights to Magnus, Solar and Turok. I think that Harbinger would be another logical starting book.
Depending on VEI's plan I think a major event crossover would be a good start to the new Valiant Universe. Maybe something Unity related with Mothergod at the center of it all. She isn't dead after Unity, right? Then start a few monthly titles (X-O Manowar and Harbinger) right after. I would gradually expand with another monthly title every 6 months or so until there are 6 monthly titles. Here is what I would do:
1) X-O Manowar
2) Harbinger
3) Shadowman
4) Bloodshot
5) Eternal Warriors (with adventures of all 3 immortal brothers and Archer throughout time)
6) Quantum and Woody (You've GOTTA have this title if BWS is not working on Archer & Armstrong for comic relief in my opinion. A & A was never the same once BWS left...)
All other Valiant characters could be put into supporting roles in the various monthly titles with a possible mini-series on occasion if it is warranted. Here is how I would have the supporting characters lined up:
Armorines - in X-O Manowar
Geomancer - in Eternal Warriors
Ninjak - in Bloodshot
Psi-Lords - DEAD!!!
Only kidding - Eternal Warriors future timeline stories
Rai - Eternal Warriors future timeline stories
Second Life of Dr. Mirage - Shadowman
Secret Weapons - Bloodshot
Visitor - Harbinger
All VH2 characters used (if any) - Quantum and Woody
I think the future storylines are best left to the Eternal Warriors books unless by some stroke of luck VEI can get the rights to the Gold Key characters (or whatever the hell they are called now...). Then my whole plan listed above changes to:
1) Magnus Robot Fighter - first event spinoff book
2) Solar Man of the Atom - first event spinoff book
3) X-O Manowar
4) Harbinger
5) Eternal Warriors (with adventures of all 3 immortal brothers and Archer throughout time)
6) Shadowman
7) Bloodshot
8) Quantum and Woody
Then the Rai and Psi-Lords stories could be told in Magnus for the most part.
I personally do not think that Turok would rate a monthly title on his own unless it is tied in some way to the vie=deo games that are being developed and I do not want to see that! I think Turok as a supporting character would be good until the game developers realize that an indian with a bow hunting dinosaurs is cool!
I think in the current market VEI would be best off with the approach of a new monthly title every 6 months or so gradually expanding to 6 or maybe 8 monthly titles total. That way they would have time to build a readership for their current titles and lay the groundwork for the new ones.
The key to the whole universe would be good - if not great - stories with more of a "house style" art like the original Valiant books, but with more up to date computer coloring. Super tight continuity between all the titles in the universe would also be a must making VEI very reader friendly.
Remember - this is how I would do it.
I have no connection to VEI and sure as hell no marketing expert for the comic industry.

Let's assume that VEI does not get the rights to Magnus, Solar and Turok. I'll have to agree with KC that X-O and Harbinger should be the titles to reintroduce Valiant back into publishing. The point of focus should be trying to find some connection between the VH1 series and the new era. It could have been alot easier if they had the rights to Solar so that VEI could use him as a catalyst for making every event that took place after Unity happen in a parallel universe. That way VEI can pretty much continue the storylines with tight continuity as the way it should have happened. I'm sure they can come up with something creative to repair the damage from VH1.
