X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
I found my first rare Valiant Treasure during the black Friday sale at Collectors Paradise in Pasadena. I was wrapping up my comic binge diving through the comics by the pound boxes and came across the Kotaki cover, I opened it up and found Quantum and Woody inside and let out a big Whooooooo!! and startled just about everyone in the store I'm sure. But yeah I'm pretty excited about the find.

Re: X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
By the way I never see this on eBay. What's the general consensus on fair price? I actually have a copy I may be selling (just had our 4th baby - not cheap lol)

Last graded one I saw was near $300. I think it was a 9.6.

Re: X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
There's 3 9.8 copies, no 9.6s (unless it got a blue label). A board member sold a raw copy on Ebay for about $350 a couple years ago. That copy ((I suspect) or possibly another) sold for about $406 very soon after on ebay.

Funny. I only have an error copy.
Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

In addition, I'm right.

I'm looking for either copy. I can't find a regular XO 15 Kotaki variant or an error copy.

There are probably equal amounts of each. An error copy has the extra attribute of being "an error copy".Intrepidxc wrote:I'm looking for either copy. I can't find a regular XO 15 Kotaki variant or an error copy.

Re: X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
I still can't find a copy for sale. The XO 15 Kotaki variant in any form seems to be harder to come across than any of the other Rarer VEI books. Heck, I can find copies of Divinity #1 1:40 out there and there were only 350 made. How many XO 15 Kotaki variants were made?greg wrote:There are probably equal amounts of each. Re: X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
This was probably the most difficult for me to get, along with Bloodshot #3 limited variant. I don't know why, but that book took me months to find.

Re: X-O Manowar Kotaki Error
Hard to say. The sales for X-O #15 were 14,000 copies.Intrepidxc wrote:I still can't find a copy for sale. That would be 280 of the 1:50 variants... but that was July 2013, and it's not clear if VEI was still printing extra variants.
They said there were extra variants in 2012, at least 1,000 of every book.
VEI stated in 2012 that they did not want it to be impossible to collect Valiant, so they wanted at least 1,000 of each book.
At some point, however, there would have been lots of extra variants (printed, but unearned) for books nowhere near the #1 issue,
so it didn't make a lot of sense to keep printing beyond what was needed for the orders. Extras and giveaways for #1 (or #0) books make sense...
but it probably wouldn't make a lot of sense to thank convention attendees with a limited edition of a random (non-#1) book from years ago.

If I had to guess, I'd say there are probably 400 of the X-O #15 Kotaki variants, with maybe 150 errors and 250 correct.

More info (especially from VEI directly) would change my mind pretty quickly, though.
