Great review, DBS!
I'm really curious about this arc. Is this a legit future scenario? Or perhaps just a halucinatory dream-like state, a la Perfect Day?

Great review, Jesse! Love your passion for the awesomeness that is Lewis' artwork (and Brian's colours) in there. We recorded our OTV:VCR episode reviewing it yesterday - it's absolutely jaw-dropping incredible work.
I can't wait to get a print copy on Wednesday to pour over it all on paper

Hard to believe they were showing the art for this arc at shows months before the series even launched! Hopefully they stayed ahead of schedule the whole time.

Re: Bloodshot: Reborn #10 (The Analog Man)
Good start to the arc. Maybe a little jarring to be presented with the state of the world (or, at least, California?) 30 years from now. Los Angeles is a walled city? Goo tech? That sounds like a flashback to the early Bloodshot issues and the Grey Goo that PRS lost control of.
I like the nods to various other characters. Jack and Alyssa and the Shadowmen Cult. Interesting that this says Aric left Earth with his people, but in Book of Death: Fall of X-O we see he is clearly on Earth later. I recall the original solicitation for BoD:FoXO described Aric as off planet and just returning. Hoping that we aren't have an editorial kerfuffle that didn't get caught.

this was excellent, looked gorgeous and the story was great. i wonder if we will get to see these events like the shadow invasion?
Re: Bloodshot: Reborn #10 (The Analog Man) Discussion
I quite liked it, it feels like it connects quite nicely with the 4001 time line. I do have questions, I thought the Fall of X-O showed that Arics people remained on Earth but here Bloodshots saying Aric took everyone off Earth. Also like that Jack is considered one of the greatest men and best heroes that Bloodshots every known gives the characters future a nice little bump.

I need to re-read Fall of XO and the earlier BS issues to gain a sense of the grey goo. I know there was an outbreak in some town that PRS covered up...Keith wrote:Good start to the arc. Overall impression of this issue: fantastic. one of the best BS issues to date imo.

Remember the Fall of Books take place in an alternate future where Master Darque won, since Tamma and Gil prevented this, things may change a little in the current future timeline.

Re: Bloodshot: Reborn #10 (The Analog Man) Discussion
I'm still not completely convinced that this is the case. Yes, they beat Darque NOW, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for him to come back later and win. For that matter, the person that was depicted as the bad guy in those flash forwards could have been the kid that was the geomancer Darque had kidnapped. Same outfit he wore. Just grow him up, shave him bald, and apply the magical tattoos like Darque had, and viola, he matches the prophecy. I don't remember them ever specifically naming him, other than something like "The Betrayer". And a kid who was a geomancer turning into that would be more of a betrayal than Darque just corrupting the power for evil. Only time will tell though.Ras the future fan wrote:Great issue, best book I read for the year so far.Brapbrap wrote:maybe he leaves for a bit but comes back to earth eventually?

Re: Bloodshot: Reborn #10 (The Analog Man) Discussion
Loved it. Loved the tribal talk mixed with modern slang, loved the whole "Fallout+Terminator" vibe of the whole thing, loved the action scenes, loved the hints for Aric and Shadowman. Loved that the end of the world happened pretty much how it should (not should, but probably will
) , over resources. Bloodshot has gone from being one of the more mediocre titles in the lineup to the thing I look forward to the most every month. I know a lot of people around here don't care for The Valiant, but think of it this way-without it, we would have never gotten Reborn
.
Bloodshot needs to say "War Never Changes." at some point

Great issue. Loved the artwork, loved the writing. Excited to see that Jack and Alyssa apparently have a bright, heroic future (at least if this is to be trusted as the future). Ninjak's arrival at the end was perfect. I'm excited to pore over the director's cut next month.

Great art, good story. Valiant isn't afraid to paint with a broad brush with regard to future events.
But the Fall Of books are canon, yes? Not alternate timeline, right? I never got the sense that they were contingent on the events in the BoD story. We need to ask Warren or Dino at a con to set the record straight.

I'm in agreement with you - I think the Fall Of one-shots were distinct stories that aren't hinged on the outcome of events in BoD. I thought they were to be considered in the same vein as RAI zero.jmatt wrote:Great art, good story. Valiant isn't afraid to paint with a broad brush with regard to future events.

Fall Of one-shots are absolutely canon, otherwise Valiant outright lied when they were marketing BoD

Re: Bloodshot: Reborn #10 (The Analog Man) Discussion
I don't have anything to back it up, but I'd say the only part that won't be happening from Book of Death is Darque conquering the word. It may have to jump through some hoops, but my theory is Gilad sending Tama back fulfilled three purposes: 1) it saved her from the Immortal Enemy, 2) it warned his younger self of the potential threat posed by Darque (the passages of the book read by Tama were a deliberately misleading warning), and 3) it got Tama in place to ultimately defeat Darque and remove the Geomantic abilities from David Dunlow.
The rest (i.e. the "Fall of..." books and the non-Darque bits in BoD #1) are still on the table as going to happen.

Then they die. I loved the mentioning of the Shadow Wars (I think that's what it was called) but I really didn't like the fact that they're supposedly dead, 30 years from now. I understand however, that events mentioned in stories set in the future, may not even come to pass, in our lifetime.jeremycoe wrote:Great issue. Loved the artwork, loved the writing. Overall, great read. I loved the art, and all the nods to continuity in the dialogue. Although, it would be nice to have some type of Valiant Bible/Guidebook, that lines up all these events that take place in the future, i.e. X-O:BOD...

Great review of a great comic!
Bold direction for VEI to jump 30 years ahead in this story, particularly as they know how hot the fans are on continuity! No annual Marvel/DC style universe reboot to wipe it all away (as is my understanding of Marvel/DC, although I don't read 'em). Looking forward to seeing where Ninjak has been and what's his role here.
Agree with others that we need to know if FOD books are cannon?
5/5
