I like Lemire's cover for Bloodshot Reborn #15

Interesting to see Jody Houser and Rafer Roberts as the writers for Shadowman 4001
i'm not sure if this was known already (was there an article/thread on this?) ... But cool to see Jody branching out to another character ...especially someone as important as Shadowman.

I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in the inital 4001 promotion. I seem to remember thinking Houser and Roberts were a weird writing team. I think it'll be good.bygranddesign wrote:Interesting to see Jody Houser and Rafer Roberts as the writers for Shadowman 4001

Buying Faith and X-O Manowar definitely. Still on the fence about continuing Ninjak and Wrath.

Imperium, kaput, all solo series (exempt 4001 stuff and A&A). They all look good, but we Need a group title or two. I would like a Generation Zero (mini)series.

I like A&A but think I'll give #5 a miss. No interest in a 'date' issue. Still on the fence about Faith #1. Will see how the mini concludes first.
Anyone else read Ninjak #17 solicit as being the last issue? The whole 'finale' wording has me very concerned...
Def getting Bloodshot but will give the direcrors cut amiss. The last one looked great but didnt add anything new.

Till we get anything saying to the contrary, I read that as the finale of The Siege of King's Castle arc, not the last issue of the series.Bl00dsh0t wrote:Anyone else read Ninjak #17 solicit as being the last issue? The whole 'finale' wording has me very concerned...

Disagree. Don't care whether there are solo, pair or team titles coming out at any given point so long as the stories are enjoyable.Sheikhaljabal wrote:Imperium, kaput, all solo series (exempt 4001 stuff and A&A). Besides, like you said yourself, there'll be plenty of multi-character action in Rai/4001 and A+A, so VEI have covered that base for you

Re: Valiant Comics JULY 2016 Solicitations
Sorry, but I find the whole line lacking one, especially when we think about all their hitherto almost or altogether untouched trademarks: Besides the new VEI concepts such Generation Zero, The Delinquents, Beast Brigade, the X-O Army or the 1%, there are several others that can be used and smoothly integrated on the new universe either as "umbrella" titles (Unity-style but done right) or villanious crews (such as The United, whom I would like to see again): PunX, Psi-Lords, Eggbreakers, Gravediggers, Troublemakers, Trinity Angels, Secret Weapons - most of them could/should be restyled: think the Bad Eggs' cameo on Ivar, Timewalker.
Some people have mentioned a new X-O title with the Armorines (à la Bloodshot and the HARD Corps); I really wouldn't mind a Future Force: Eternal Warriors coming out of 4001 to explore and expand that space/time period

Re: Valiant Comics JULY 2016 Solicitations
I don't really disagree that there are several options available to VEI that could constitute good team titles. My point was more that imo VEI doesn't need a team title if their comics are good enough that sales keep the company afloat without one. Having a team title on the shelf isn't *absolutely* necessary, y'know?
I guess maybe this idea comes from my growing weariness with the established conventions of comics and the industry these days. The 4-issue arcs, the 'need' to keep putting #1 issues on the shelves, etc... I'd rather see a comic industry where convention is much less apparent and artistic ideas and methods are able to be employed without fear of 'risk' and failure, but perhaps that's just too unrealistic in practice.
But anyway, yeah, your ideas for titles are all pretty sound I think
For what it's worth, a Postit with the word 'Trinity' and a triangle drawn on it features in that photo of VEI's 'upcoming projects' board, so you might be getting what you're asking for soon.
I guess personally I'm happy to count Rai as a 'team' title at the moment whereas some might not be, but that's alright because "it's just comics"
I don't really have a preference for solo/pair/team titles above any other type, so i'm easily pleased as long as the story is entertaining.

Was concerned due to the word 'finale' and the fact we've seen Unity, Timewalker (was a great maxi series and ending at 12 issues was a good choice for the story), Imperium, and XO all end recently.

Re: Valiant Comics JULY 2016 Solicitations
I agree with these titles not being 'necessary' part as well as with the current trends of writing with the trades in mind and the constant renumberings. I just feel that they would be useful to VEI, in order to showcase more characters (those who are to be 'tested' for or 'can not' hold a solo title) and environments (like space or imaginary locations such as the Faraway or the Deadside), now that we are back to zero after all the previous ones have been discontinued. My impression is that they are more viable than a mere anthology for those purposes.Shadowman99 wrote:I don't really disagree that there are several options available to VEI that could constitute good team titles. I remember that board and I'm aware of a possible Trinity Angels (as well as the Outcast's) reboot. Let's hope they're far better than the original. I'm also curious about VEI's new characters such as Britannia and Savage. My point is: if they stick to their 9 titles - a policy which I wholeheartedly aprove for their overall quality-keeping purposes - a little line variety would not hurt. Best regards.

Re: Valiant Comics JULY 2016 Solicitations
Oh yeah, undeniable that team titles are better for showcasing a higher number of characters similtaneously than solo titles for the most part. Perhaps that's a strategy that VEI will employ later on in their run once if they ever decide to significantly expand the size of their universe/books on the shelf at any one time.Sheikhaljabal wrote:I agree with these titles not being 'necessary' part as well as with the current trends of writing with the trades in mind and the constant renumberings. Point taken on adding variety to the 9-title lineup. I think the thing with VEI is that they seem quite adhered to the idea of 'best idea wins', which would seem to result in a fairly 'organic' method of deciding which books are on the shelf at any particular point in time: perhaps currently all the 'best' ideas simply involve VEI characters doing their own thing. When the next 'best' idea comes up and happens to feature say, Stanchek crossing over with Gen 0, then that'll 'naturally' result in a team title hitting the shelf. Maybe that's how VEI play it, I dunno

Counting shop exclusives and conventions, I'm going to say we end up with about 16 covers for Faith 1. Nothing has been announced, but I got a feeling.
