I'm surprised there still hasn't been a single solitary peep about the movies. I hope they're still happening.

Dysart on Psi-Lords could be amazing, considering how much I enjoyed Fall of Harbinger.MC Kriet wrote:Wow! Watching the summit and seeing all these announcements of new books coming out this year has got me really excited about Valiant. Can't wait to read Generation Zero especially with FVL writing it! Also intrigued by Savage. Wish we had heard something about what Dysart will be doing in the future but since we also didn't hear anything about Psy-Lords here's to hoping he's working on that.

As to the new titles. I will be buying Bloodshot USA, Brittania, and Divinity III. I will need to see more on Generation Zero and Harbinger Renegades before deciding. Faith looks awesome and I see an audience for Savage but I have to think about what I really enjoy in comics and make sure my dollars go there. I am not so hard to figure out being a Harada fan.
Nothing about the film?
I am not going to comment on Rafer Roberts doing serious rather than light as I haven't seen him do it before. That doesn't mean he can't and I would hate to see talent sterotyped or pigeon holed before he gets a chance to show me what he can do.

I'm definitely going to give it a shot, but I immediately was excited when I saw "Harbinger: Renegades" and immediately let down when I saw Rafer Roberts name attached. It has more to Dysart not penning it rather than worried about Roberts doing a bad job.Tim wrote:Me too. Project rising sun wtf was that. Lemire got it right but the clown writing the article got it all wrong. And bloodshot looks like hulk even the face in the variant in the article. Sounds good but I'd bet this is being ripped from Reborn for a brand new title so they can cash in on another #1 issue and hopefully gain new readers. If blood shot looks like hulk I may be posting more in the I'may be out on Valiant thread.jeremycoe wrote:BLOODSHOT U.S.A. IS 28 DAYS LATER WITH SUPER POWERS

As for what titles I plan to get, so far only one new title I can add to my 35.00 Canadian limit personal month in comics. So yes to Divinity 3. I'm not into detective comics so britania is out. But savage sounds great. I love harbinger but very sad Dysarts not writing so I'll get issue one maybe issue two and see. if it hooks me by issue two then maybe I'll get it ongoing. I won't settle for a adventures of a&a typer of book. I need an adult type of book. Not dead drop bloodshot Usa. Great news from Valiant today.
I Miss the good old days.

You might not like the Hulk look for Bloodshot, but if you remember there was a panel in Book of Death #1 in which Bloodshot looked pretty Hulkish to me. Things to come I'm assuming.

Re: Valiant Summit 2016 Discussion Thread
To me he just looks like the typical muscle man action hero from the 80's or modern American comics rather than anything like the Hulk which takes that to an extreme. Maybe old school Punisher or young Dolph Lundgren but not Hulk man. I don't see this as an attempt at an ongoing but rather as an event for this year. I haven't seen enough art from the upcoming comic to know if I like it but time will tell. I am surprised you had such an adverse reaction to it already...nonplayer wrote:Project rising sun wtf was that. Lemire got it right but the clown writing the article got it all wrong. Sign me up for everything.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concepts of Savage and Britannia in regard to the overall Valiant Universe. We talk about some folk feeling the titles are too disconnected, but these... these two titles sound extremely disconnected from the rest of the VU. Not necessarily a bad thing, and no telling how they may end up timing back in later, but it's just giving me some pause.
A little surprised that Roberts is on Harbinger: Renegades. That must have been one hell of a pitch. Still, I grow fonder of his A&A with each issue, so the trust is there.
I love that the art from Divinity III we are seeing is so far along. Dinesh has been teasing some of that for awhile, so much so that I just assumed it was from Divinity II! They have these suckers extremely well scheduled!

ALL OF THEM!!!!Psiot X wrote:As to the new titles. I will be buying.

My pull list reads, ALL VALIANT TITLES, PLUS VARIANTS, EXCEPT A&A.... With these announcements today, I don't see the need to make any changes to that. I'm looking forward to every book, some more than others of course, but overall, I'm excited!!

I'm in for Faith definitely and will be giving Generation Zero and Harbinger: Renegedes a try, despite a real reluctance on that last one. Maybe Rafer will pull it off. I bought some of his creator-owned stuff from his at a convention and found it largely unreadable and his A&A hasn't been much better, but I love the characters enough to give him the benefit of the doubt for a few issues at least.

I don't know, while watching, the camera zoomed in on the art, from what I could see, other than the cover for Divinity lll StalinVerse, all the art was from Divinity ll #2, which comes out next week, and has a scene where, Myshka shows Abram this Future!Keith wrote:I love that the art from Divinity III we are seeing is so far along. Photobucket has been acting up on me today, like it's got a virus or something. But if you can, go ahead and post the pics they released today, it'll be cool for everybody to see. To the point though, either way, it's a win-win for US....

I'm looking forward to this aspect. They need to expand the universe into new areas. Look at early Valiant. Magnus Robot Fighter, Solar, Harbinger, none of these titles seemed to have anything to do with each other yet Valiant wove them into this tight interconnected universe.Keith wrote:

mmh. some cool projects, but not overtly excited for some the creators. especially harbinger renegades. man, this should have been dysart or a heavy hitter, rafaer just won't do. really sad for having to wait another 2-3 years for a good volume 3 harbinger.
i mean, sure, will sample the first few issues, but come on, we all know this will be (at least!) underwhelming compared to dysart's run.

Re: Valiant Summit 2016 Discussion Thread
I'm really excited about the announcements. It's a shot in the arm for the company. Gets fans looking forward and will likely draw in different audiences given the variety.
As for Harbinger Renegades, those that remember me around her know how much I love Dysart's interpretation and his writing. Still, I believe Rafer will do an admirable job. It will be different, but not bad. I've met Rafer, and he is a thoughtful and intelligent guy. He does have a unique sense of humor - he probably would have done something good with Quantum and Woody.
Rafer said this will not be a comedy, but he will break up the seriousness with bits of levity. Dysart did that as well.
I compare this to Jody Houser writing the short in the X-O Annual. If all I judged her by was her Faith work, I would think she wrote more surface level, catering to a lighter feel, especially compared to Dysart's take on Faith. But that short showed me that she is capable of a different voice and more serious tone. Rafer will do the same, I'm certain. The only question for me is will the writing be taken at face level, or will there be onion layers like in Dysart's work?
Great lineup of stories, though. And with all these minis, there will be openings on the roster for other titles to return as the minis end.
