VEI feels like an alternate universe..
So I got the book of death deluxe edition from a library, and I read the whole thing, it really felt weird, the whole time I felt like I was reading this weird, off, alternate valiant universe...
It could be because I smoked a giant banana sized joint before I did (haha it's legal here in oregon)..
But still..it was weird
It felt like a mix of birth quake vh1 and vh2..
When I was reading it, I was like, is this the darque from vh1?
It was an odd book..
Then I read 4001 number 1...which kinda cemented the whole feeling..
And I was like, why the hell does glad in 4001 have long grey hair, he''s not supposed to age!
Haha..huh?
So just cause it went from 2016 to 4001 he has grey hair?
But all the time before that it stayed the same?
So anyways...just weirdness..

Usually, immortals have to "grow old and die" while "leaving their possessions to a dead infant that is the new him." Maybe Gild was named XYZ for 100 years and he had to add gray to his hair???

Read Eternal Warrior by Pak. Things will make more sense.

I think it's the case that he ages slowly when he's not in the service of Earth as the Fist and Steel.

In the Fall of Ninjak, we see where Gilad tells Ninjak (after apparently beating the United from getting into the Deadside) that he is going away for awhile, but won't say where or why. Perhaps it was the nature of that disappearance that aged him? Maybe he went into the Deadside and something happens there?
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

We've seen him go through 2-3 angsty episodes where he gets *SQUEE* and stops serving the Earth. Maybe every time this happens he gets a little older and by 4001 he's done this so many times he actually aged by 30 years?

I do wish they would have that addressed in a story arc at some point to properly explain it. I think it was hinted at in Greg Paks run that if he breaks his service to the Earth that he will age during that time, but I'm not 100% sure if that was the case.jmatt wrote:I think it's the case that he ages slowly when he's not in the service of Earth as the Fist and Steel.
We haven't yet seen him in many other stories that take place between present day & 4001, I'm starting to wonder if maybe he aged in the future because of the Geomancer being trapped on New Japan...

There's a of of stuff that needs 'splaining. I like that Venditti is addressing Gilad's predicate in WotEW.grendeljd wrote:I do wish they would have that addressed in a story arc at some point to properly explain it.
