This thread is under Valiant's CGC/CBCS forum. So I think it's ok to talk about this within this section. Where else would you talk about it. Especially sense CGC site poofs threads. If not here, then many Valiant collectors that don't visit CGC site may not know about case problem. Valiant collectors would end up buying potential damaged goods without knowing. That would be very uncool to keep it a secret to fellow Valiant collectors. I'm sure some dealers would like that though as a way to dump cases onto unsuspecting customers. Lets just hope new/new case is good and we can tell them apart and move on. I think we will, by looking for the inner well on new/new case. as a collector if you don't see inner well on CGC, don't buy it! On new-new case time will tell.

Well, now I am stuck! Sept I will be going to a Con and Matt Kindt will be there. Me being just a Noob, should I stay away from CGC? Go CBCS?

I will have him sign 4001AD 1-4 1:100 and Divinity II #1 1:80.

Not to muck up or steal the thread, but any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me with advice, just want to get this right
Sweet comics, I have that Divinity one.
You don't have to wait 18 months. 18 months was just what CGC forums were saying it would take CGC for R&D period. Where that date originally came from I don't know but seems reasonable to me. They obviously didn't take that long so you can take that as you will.

Personally I would wait a few months because problems sometimes don't show up or get worse over time. That's what's been happening with new case. I have no idea if the new-new case has fixed the problems and neither does any one else. That's the problem right now with CGC. Buying old case is fine still though. I know some people have started sending right away to CGC again and other that are done with CGC altogether because of how they've treated customers.

If you're a collector that doesn't resell I would go with CGCS because you know what your getting and they in-turn grow so competition happens. If you want to sell right away or complete a series using same company you started gathering for, you may have a different answer. CGC monopoly may make resellers continue to us them.

I never said don't talk about it, just don't assume everyone else is keeping up on a totally different board.

So far dealing with cgc has been great they are willing to fix the problem for free and shipping for free. They made an announcement, and they are following through. OK if the new cases are garbage we can deal with that then. CGC has always had a great reputation and are backing their product. What more can we ask for.
You can't be a leader in something if you don't try new things. When the cases work they will be way nicer than any other graded comic.
I Miss the good old days.

Would it be safe to say to be leary of all CGC graded books from 1/16 to 6/16? Not all of the books will be sent back to be fixed. It's probably a good question to ask anyone who is selling a CGC book graded during this time frame.

seems reasonable. I'd be cautious of current case for a few months until proven too. Which is only done over time. So far they seem ok but its only been a very short time. I've heard a few complain on CGC forum about the larger size but I've never actually seen one myself, so could just be rants.

I'm just glad it was pretty good, long and drawn out. (that's what she said.)

Only a Three Month Period. Less Actually.

Was selling a slab on eBay (new case, no inner well).

Potential buyer messaged me asking if it had the new inner well.

I told them no.

Haven't heard anything since... :|

SO, I guess I need to re-holder ALL my books from this time period it seems.

Thank you. I'm not sure why I put the start of the year. I knew that wasn't the case. I submitted books back in January.

It will be an important question to ask the sellers.

If CGC will do it for free, I say do it.

I haven't looked at any CGC books in a long time. Does anyone have pictures they can share that show the new holder compared to the one they had used for years?
