This seems like an awesome opportunity for me to again post my published review of Savage #1.

Re: Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) will be LESS than 350 copies.
I called Mile High and they said they failed to order enough copies to qualify for the 1:50 ratio variant. However, they said that sometimes because of the volume of books they order from VEI, sometimes they receive one of the higher ratio variants anyway. We basically have to just check back next week. Admittedly, they said the Thanksgiving holiday may delay things for some unknown reason.

Tried a variety of cold calls to some bigger shops in my area, got as close as a 1:10, but that's about it

I was able to order the 1:10, 1:20 and the 1:50 off Midtown. I had been waiting for their site to update so I hope the cart/order was good.

I speak fluent Spanish, Garífuna, and Western Caribbean Kriol, but I don't fully understand the language listed on Pep Comics' website (seemingly Dutch). However, I think I ordered a copy of the 1:50 ratio for 9.34 Euros. I haven't been charged yet as they have to remit payment information, but I certainly placed an order for a copy. Maybe they have others for the rest of the gang, especially if you understand what the website says. After placing the order it says "The delivery of your order depends on the products. Through our website you can see what the delivery time per product is. Your order will be dispatched when all items are available." Maybe I didn't place an order for this book after all and accidentally ordered a weapon of mass destruction unknowingly, or illicit drugs, or a bizarre sex toy. I guess I'll find out.

Okay, this is the first Britannia #3 1:50 I've seen on ebay:

hate to see what the Savage #1 1:50's are going to be at, since we know they are rarer than the Britannia #3 1:50...

How is the variant for #3 listed for that much when the variant for #1 (1st appearance) can be had for $20?jaden_sai wrote:Okay, this is the first Britannia #3 1:50 I've seen on ebay:

Infinitely more. FYI, there have been recent raw sales for the Britannia #2 and #3 1:50's in the $125+ range already.

Even if I don't get a copy, I'll be well pleased to see Trey from CBSI eat some crow on his Valiant hate. Book hasn't even been released yet and it's going to fetch crazy prices while they all fawn over the gazillion Venom #1 covers.

I'm not sure that I've seen the CSBI even discuss this book yet. Have they? I know it's in a few speculation groups and I have been PM'ed out of the blue by about 12 or so collectors asking about it.JCP wrote:Even if I don't get a copy, I'll be well pleased to see Trey from CBSI eat some crow on his Valiant hate. Re: Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) will be LESS than 350 copies.
I get it, but I don't get it. I guess I'm still in the mentality of the 1st appearance is what is important, not some variant that has nothing special to it. Not to mention these are no more rare than any of the countless variants Valiant has put out that can be bought for $20. I wish the seller then best. I just don't get it.paradise wrote:Infinitely more. Re: Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) will be LESS than 350 copies.
It's the combination of Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) being the first appearance AND rare that make it significant.
The fact that less than 350 copies are out there and the reality that everyone who may (or in the future may) want a copy will have a somewhat difficult time obtaining it.
Like prom queens, private jets, and Super Bowl rings; people tend to value and desire the very things that are most difficult to obtain.
It's a thing.

No that I get. I don't get the Britannia #2 and #3 variants being so expensive when they are not that rare (relatively) and do not contain a 1st appearance. How many other variants does valiant have that are just as rare as these two that have almost no value? Quite a few.DirtbagSailor wrote:It's the combination of Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) being the first appearance AND rare that make it significant.

Re: Savage #1 (LaRosa 1:50) will be LESS than 350 copies.
For the Britannia variants, there is a different event occurring.
According to Dinesh, Britannia is gaining traction with readers OUTSIDE the usual Valiant readers. It's different, and this is drawing interest. As a result, there are MORE hands in the cookie jar than usual, and it's reflected in the demand.
PLus that Britannia #3 (1:50) looks friggin awesome!

Pep Comics in the Netherlands is out as shown by their e-mail response to me below. I'm at the point I'll rely on somebody who might have an extra copy or eBay. I also contacted several shops in Mexico, Chile, Spain, and Argentina. None have this book. This hunt is sadly becoming too challenging. Big kudos to those who scored one from Midtown or elsewhere. Hopefully you got a 9.8 that you can slab!
Hi Jack,
I'm very sorry but this comic is only available to stores who order 50 copies or more of the regular edition.
