What? It's just a mini-series. Bummer!
Livewire deserves more than that.

Agree... though, I'd rather see a mini series than an ongoing that gets cancelled.Sunlight on Snow wrote:What? It's just a mini-series. Bummer!

Re: Arrival Screenwriter Launching Superhero Comic for Valia
wow really like the premise, the writer, and I thought the panels that they showed looked really good...as close to the VH1 "house" style as I can remember seeing in quite awhile...

Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

Nice article on Hollywood Reporter about the series, and Livewire in particular;

I'm not that excited by the new characters either, visually at least. They just seem very 'every day' and unremarkable. I hope their personalities and powers win me over when the comic's out however.mateo107 wrote:I'll give it a chance but the characters other than Livewire don't really excite me. It frustrates me that VEI has so many characters out of circulation as it is, and these will most likely end up the same. It's fine that they're not making this another Unity, but it just doesn't feel like it will carry the same gravity as that team did.
Not what I thought 'Secret Weapons' would ever be when it eventually got out onto the shelf, but it'll be interesting to see what it is.
Liking the look of the art though, and I'm happy to see Livewire taking centre stage.

Re: Arrival Screenwriter Launching Superhero Comic for Valia
So Secret Weapons is actually going to be a thing again. And from what I'm reading, I'm honestly pretty psyched.
If any of you guys haven't seen Arrival yet, I'd definitely recommend it. The best way I could describe it is if Man of Steel was written by an actual human being, so already Heisserer has some good points in my book. If anyone has the capability of creating a story with depth akin to Dysart's Harbinger it's him, if Arrival's any indication. It helps that he's clearly very passionate about the work, which is always a big green flag.
The general concept of a team of heroes with silly/bad powers isn't anything new, though between Heisserer's writing and Allen's art is actually looks like it could have a nice edge to it. It's certainly more interesting than what the original Secret Weapons wound up becoming. And Livewire getting more of a spotlight is always welcome.

I think that's the point regarding these characters. Remember, Solomon has wanted these types of cast offs, always finding a use for them, maximizing their strengths. These are Harada mistakes, I can see where Livewire will take her little band of misfits and eventually join with Solomon, Gen Zero, and the Harbinger team.Shadowman99 wrote:I'm not that excited by the new characters either, visually at least. I think you're probably right about that underlined bit. Still, if that the case then VEI have done well to get the correct initial reaction from meTheeBaldMoose wrote:I think that's the point regarding these characters. If I had any cash free I'd take you up on that bet of Livewire joining Soloman, Gen Zero and The Harbs all at once - I don't think it's likely!

Re: Arrival Screenwriter Launching Superhero Comic for Valia
I see it like this. Livewire does what is right, and makes tough choices. She showed her metal when she gave back the XO armor. I see a similar theme playing out here. She will take her band of misfits, see that she should be fighting with The Harbs, and may even lead the rebellion away from Soloman. She is a natural leader, someone others will look up to for the "right of way", even if it isn't the most moral path. Completely my random thoughts, that's allShadowman99 wrote:I think you're probably right about that underlined bit. I see it a different way (although I've only read Harb #1+2 at the moment): I think that The Harbs may team up with Solomon temporarily before they realise he's a bad bad man, but I don't think a situation is likely to arise where The Harbs, Solomon, Livewire + Secret Weapons and Gen 0 will be teamed up similtaneously, so that's the distinction I'm making my bet on

I'm probably an issue or two behind on Gen 0 too, but as it stands I can't see them joining up with the Renegades at any point before Harbinger Wars II, if at all even, but that's just a guess on my part.
I'm not sure who I think Livewire's likely to ally with a short way in the future from now based on what I've read - maybe 'none of the above' depending on how her interaction with the SW goes

'Mettle', by the way: Livewire showed her mettle

Definitely sounds like he really gets the character of Livewire in this interview. Raul Allen's pages look fantastic. I'm looking forward to reading this mini series.Sunlight on Snow wrote:jxm640 wrote:Follow up article.
