X-O 1-3 preorder bundle price at your LCS

Show of hands - who got the pre-order bundle editions of XO?

Out of curiosity, for those who got it - what did you pay? My shop charged me ~$15 (Canadian) just for a copy of #1. It seems the Diamond code they have entered in their system only registers that price point (my shop is one that scans barcodes to ring up new comics sales).

As long as I get #2 & #3 for free when they arrive, I'm fine with paying up front - but I didn't think it was meant to work that way. I'll get it sorted out fine with my LCS. Would love to hear other people's experiences with picking up this copy.

My shop ordered an extra pre-order bundle and let me get one after the fact. They charged me $12 and understand that it's paid-for and just picking up for the next 2.

Cover price at an exchange rate of 0.8 per my shop's customer-friendly price policy; EUR 3.20 for the $3.99 book as usual.

The way it was advertised - "$11.97 [3 issues]" - and from what my shop said the bundle is paid at once and the following issues will be distributed for free. My shop's computer system (written in Pascal shortly after the PC was invented) just can't handle the bundle price so I'm gonna pay them on a monthly basis. Needles to say they're already looking forward to more Valiant bundles in the future.

Got my first issue for the regular $4 minus my 25% discount which my LCS always gives. Why? Was it supposed to be cheaper than regular cover price for some reason?

I did.

I paid cover price. I think there was some confusion when paying so I have just agreed to pay for each one each month.

OK, so my LCS did something similar to what yours did. Paid the full $11.97 up front, then they marked the rest as lay-away, so that I basically get the other two for free.

In the end, it all works out the same, so I am alright with that.

I pre-ordered my bundle from Ed back in December. How is he sending those out again? One at a time or all three together once they've all arrived?

I'm guessing you are referring to the $499 group with just about everything? He is sending them all out after #3 lands

Normal cover price. I ordered a set from 2 different retailers, one charged for the whole 3 issues up front (which is how it's supposed to work). The other shop got confused and charged me for 3 issues but thought got that was the cost for one issue (!), then they refunded me and looks like they're charging me per issue.

Retailers in the U.K. have ordered extra sets of pre orders and selling issue #1 for the marked up price £4.95 ($6.50 US/$3000.00 Can, I don't know how your whacky money works!

I'm definitely doing the pre order for Secret Weapons and XO 4-9, well worth it!

I paid for all $12 with X-O 1. I was a little worried that I was overcharged, but I talked to my LCS and they said that the next two issues would basically ring up as $0.
I really wish I could've just paid cover price, but I get it. I'd love to preorder the rest of X-O and Secret Weapons, but the whole point of monthly comics (rather than trades) for me is so I don't have to drop $15-20 in one sitting.

What did you guys expect? They're specifically called preorder editions. If you wanted them, you were supposed to preorder them.

My shop is supposed to order me every cover. I just figured he would have got me one.

I was late, letting them know. No biggie, I'll find them out in the wild. I did however, notice on Twitter that some shops had the pre-order editions available regardless.

Good to hear all the feedback, guys - thanks! I figured it was fine to pay upfront for all three with issue 1, I was just concerned that the clerk couldn't answer if the next two would be free or not.

Sounds like it's a mixed bag of whether or not people are paying upfront for these or still cover price per issue. That's probably going to have a strange impact on the monthly sales figures for Valiant... speaking of which, nobody started a thread for February sales around here. Must mean DOOOOOM!!!
