XO Manowar 15 Kotacki error
Multiple-part question:
Does anybody have a guess as to approximately how many of these could be in the wild?
CGC does not have a separate entry for the error variant in the census, to my knowledge. Can anyone guess as to how many have been graded?
So how many might have been graded at 9.8?
Disclaimer: I bought a CBCS 9.8 a couple of weeks ago after making an offer, just after what I thought was a significant a price drop.

Re: XO Manowar 15 Kotacki error
from what I know, it's about 50-50 on the numbers. I think there were 250 of the error and 250 of the corrected version. There was a spike when news regarding a Q&W show was going to come out. Before that, the fixed error was the more valuable one (but not by much)

No idea about CBCS but about 5 have been graded by CGC. They'll show up under the Qualified column, then again so will anything signed but not witnessed by them.

Re: XO Manowar 15 Kotacki error
There was only 262 total copies of the 1:50 variant (calculated using regular printrun)
As far as being 50/50... I don't think so. I think the error is much much harder to find.

Re: XO Manowar 15 Kotacki error
I remember talking to Warren and Dino about the errors, but I can't recall the details. There are very, very few of them in the wild. How many, I don't think anyone truly knows, but they tried to catch the error at the printer, and a few escaped! The regular 1:50 is also extremely hard to find.
I've graded 2 of these error books. One a 9.8 which is in my collection, and the other a 9.4 which I sold for $1K. High grade copies are even more difficult to get. The 1:50 books tend to get manhandled and the dark cover is very condition sensitive.
This might be as close as we have to a Bloodshot Platinum in the VEI run.

Speaking of things I need to CGC...

How about the VEI X-O Manowar #29 error (with PDF bar across the top of the cover)? How many of this error are there?

Re: XO Manowar 15 Kotacki error
I recently made my very first CGC submission of comic books. This #29 was included. This comic had a slight bend on the lower left corner. From what I have now read...I probably should have paid to have it pressed first. I really don't know when it will come back into my hands.

If you think it will be worth it, depending on the price you'd fetch for it, you could always re-submit it. Maybe one day you'd like to add signatures or something (Cary Nord or VDitti or both), then you could have CGC crack it (at a Con), get your sigs, then ensure that it gets pressed prior to slabbing!Juki wrote:I recently made my very first CGC submission of comic books. I would love to get signatures. I'd crack in a heartbeat... But... To be honest I have never made a Comic convention in my life. I live near New Orleans... They have had Comicons...but Valiant doesn't go... So I don't go.TheeBaldMoose wrote:If you think it will be worth it, depending on the price you'd fetch for it, you could always re-submit it. Well, it doesn't have to be Valiant hosted. Just look at the Cons for the artists you want. VDitti writes for DC (Green Lantern) and is still quite Con active. Cary Nord always seems to be around as well. With you being close to New Orleans, that means Houston is within driving distance, and I know they have a pretty large Con there as well. I've tracked down artists like Templesmith, Clayton Crain, Christopher Priest and a host of others. It's well worth it!Juki wrote:I would love to get signatures. I'd crack in a heartbeat... But... One great way to track the artists you want sigs from is Twitter. They may also have a dedicated web site that shows their Con activity.

Thanks Moose! Great info on signatures. I'll have to start trying to find info on when some of these artists are fairly near me! That's the kind of hunt that makes things fun and makes great memories. For me that is what it is all about... The thrill of the chase... Family, Friends, and memories!

I thought yout could just let CGC get the sigs for you without you being present?

CGC does need to be present, but I don't know about just letting them take the books to get signed. Besides, why would you give up such an amazing opportunity to meet and talk with the artist/author? To me, it's that time, the brief few minutes, that makes the sig series that much more enjoyable.corey wrote:I thought yout could just let CGC get the sigs for you without you being present?
Having VDitti and Diego Bernard on that book, Slabbed at just about any grade would be worth more than it's weight in gold!

I really don't know how many of this Error #29 are out there.
Or ....how many of the Error #15 are out there. I would be interested in hearing what Greg has to say about the #29 (any info would help). I really don't know much about it. The kind of cool thing is that it does show that computer "PDF files" are used in making the comic.
But, in the discussion about getting an error comic signed... It may depend on the error. I have recently bought another kind of crazy cutting error that might possibly be a one of a kind.
In the case of a "One of a kind Cutting Error" should you get it signed? You could make a case that it actually distracts from the presentation of the comic being a super rare error. Do you want your eyes drawn to the signatures... Or to the crazy cutting error itself with the presentation of the comic?
With a cutting error should you even get it CGC graded? If it is graded and given a "Green Label" does that label detract from the error itself? It is not considered a "true recognized error"
with a blue label (like Zero Platinum)?
In the case of there being limited multiple errors of a comic (like Bloodshot Platinum Zero error, Kotacki X-O #15 error, etc) one could make a case that getting signatures "individualize and set apart" your comic from the rest of the same error comics.
I really haven't thought about signatures on errors before...it makes for a good discussion.
