Grading Figures
Is AFA a safe bet to grade figures? I have some POTF Star Wars to grade as well as some pre 1960 Barbies. Let me know...

AFA provides an invaluable service!!!! HIGHLY recommend them..their customer service and turn around is impressive to say the least...i have done countless transactions with them on vintage STAR WARS & G1 TRANSFORMERS....
if you wanna send me pics of your stuff, i can tell you pretty much what your looking at slab/grade wise in case your looking to prioritize and not send everything in on the first batch.....
also if you think there is a night and day difference in the comics world in terms of selling graded/slabbed vs. raw....its a factor of 10X in collectible toys.....plus you can upgrade the casing to their premium model and never have to worry about light or sun damage, fading, etc.

I have to write this, and it's obviously only MY opinion...but, that being written, this is ridiculous
Figures are ALREADY "encapsulated" in the container they come in
good, solid, contemplative, care and preservation techniques are all one needs to preserve figures. This is a silly, and overly cautious procedure to partake in...it's superfluous at best!
I have MEGO figures from 1974 still boxed and looking as bright and new as the day they were shelved..all because they were stored in a box, and in a climate controlled, dark enviroment
(all they need BTW)
Sorry, I ain't buying this crap...geeze

....my point was specifically pertaining to a liquid marketplace of collectible toys...the price difference in terms of what you can get for a Near Mint raw toy versus a slabbed Near Mint toy is literally double or 3X or maybe more.....Peter Parker wrote:I have to write this, and it's obviously only MY opinion...but, that being written, this is ridiculous![]()

not to mention the fact that with toys the main issue being, is it really still factory sealed....you cant tell if the bubble has been lifted, or if there are two sides of tape, etc. when looking at a piece via eBay or attached pic...the only way to do this is in person, which is many times just not possible....
if your intent is just to store them for yourself, there are many initiatives you can take on your own for your own utility...however...if you wanna display your collection and not hide them in cases in the dark, the AFA cases are also good cause they are sealed air tight and look really cool...
like the saying goes, to each his own....i dont mean to be selling anything here and if what said above is "crap", all i can say is i am sorry, and now quickly remembering why i stopped posting on boards like this 4 years ago or so...its much easier to just lurk......
