As we get ready for more Valiant books to be released, after a break in buying Valiant then how do people feel about the immediate future?
Does a forced break of the comic buying habit have a long term impact?
What say you ...the remaining 5 Valiant fans ?

Comics have ups and downs.
Try reading Superman from issue #1 to current. There were YEARS of awful. Try reading Spider-Man from start to finish.
There are periods of facepalms. That is part of the game sadly.

I hope so, but with the same people in charge do you think it’s likely to change dramatically any time in the next 1-2 years? Is there a race between making better books and trying to rebuild (not even grow) a readership before someone at DMG pulls the plug?DirtbagSailor wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 6:28:27 pm Comics have ups and downs.

Is it feasible that they go out of business and Dinesh buys it back?

How long did it take him to get VEI off the ground and publishing? 8 years? Maybe he’d do it quicker a second time since he learned from his mistakes. Maybe that is long enough for folks to lose some of the bitter taste of the DMG books.Dallow Spicer1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 6:34:15 pmI hope so, but with the same people in charge do you think it’s likely to change dramatically any time in the next 1-2 years? Maybe a break in publishing would do Valiant well? Unity 2025.

I'm a comic fan, not a Valiant fan. If something catches my eye I'll read it. And even under DMG the comics are mostly fine. Except X-O. That needs some serious work.
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

Who's the HVAC person around here? Someone seems to be sleeping on the job! Re: If this is as good as it’s going to get then watcha gonna do? Take the poll!
I am a Valiant fan but I despise china and Especially DMG for the hostile take over.
Dmg is not doing a good job.
My Nostalgia is not for valiant. as prooven you can own something and not understand how to run it.
I am a collector of xo and turok. Dmg has ruined everything that got me to love other titles so its easy now at this point to not fall into the trap of feeling like im missing something.
I wont get suckered into short runs.
Comics are an investment so if Im not enjoying a story why am I buying it. Its not a financial investment so its a personal investment. If it sucks do you really think there is any investment at that point. All the titles have been dropped except xo due to nastalgia and wanting all xo comic. Shame on you dmg and imo valiant should can Mags.

Other. I'm not going to stop buying Rai, just because the rest of Valiant's output sucks. Similarly, if they come out with new, interesting books, I'll definitely give them a shot.

Probably continue to pick single books here and there based on the characters I follow. Part of the appeal of the original Valiant for me was the continuity building. That's less appealing or non-existent here. It's entirely possible that at this point the only Valiant book I'd buy anymore is Rai, and even then I'm waning.

Other. I stopped reading every Valiant title after Venditti's X-O run. I picked up most Faith-related stuff after that. I have Life and Death of Toyo Harada but have not read it yet. To me Valiant took a nosedive when Kindt and Lemire took the reins from Dysart, Venditti, Van Lente and that guy who wrote Bloodshot whose name I can't spell.

Re: If this is as good as it’s going to get then watcha gonna do? Take the poll!
Other. I’m not feeling much enthusiasm for any new Valiant series of late (only picking up RAI currently), but I’m an open minded person and will give anything a try that looks appealing. There just isn’t much going on that is appealing to me. I am not automatically against everything they may do at the moment/near future, I just don’t like very much of it anymore.
I am hoping that the new Shadowman series will be good, but I also have to admit that I have significantly lowered expectations in general about the quality of the newer material. I strongly prefer Valiant stories that embrace a larger sense of inter-and-inner continuity than anything they have been publishing over the last couple of years.

I'll keep buying. I'm only missing a couple late-run Acclaim issues from my Valiant collection, so not stopping now.
Especially after the VERY 1999/2000 Acclaim-like letter from Fred Pierce in Previews and Doc Tomorrow. Shouldn't be long now before it all fades away.

I voted “Other.” I have the complete V1 series bound in hardcover books, but I decided not to bind the Acclaim books, other than Q&W. I usually don’t buy the VEI floppies any more and only buy the Deluxe Edition hardcovers or the TPB’s if no hardcover is offered. Unfortunately, I am way behind in my reading, so I have not kept up with the quality of the stories, other than what I read on the forum.

I agree with this, they allowed the ego of the writers to overshadow the integrity of the universe.Tim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:20:00 pm Other. I still collect Rai. If a good series comes out I will get it. No more minis for me. Strange how much has changed, so sad I won’t get a gold Rai book for this series.

I’ll continue to check out the characters I like, (Divnity, Harada, LiveWire, Punk Mambo, Ninjak, Shadowman) but to say things ain’t the same, is the the understatement of the year. No overall direction for the company, you really hate to see it.

I quit all Valiant back around February. I stopped enjoying the books long before that. Valiant had become unreadable to me. I hope bad idea ramps and quickly and is successful.
