Any chance of getting pre-unity books at 9.8 for a reasonable price is dwindling. I have a better chance sending in books myself and waiting.

SHHHHHhhhhhhh! They lie! ALL LIES!!GGSAE wrote:Yeah I agree dawg, CGC 9.6 is the best bargain for most if not all valiants.DawgPhan wrote:just makes the $20-30 that the 9.6's go for look like a steal. at $25-30 for those early harby's you are paying for a NM copy and the slabbing...no real markup. Not bad for a 10+ year old comic.

I had these two 9.8s in Chicago priced at less than what they just went for. It's unreal. Oh, I owe you guys a picture of the Valiant CGC set at the show...

I agree too, but my hits on pre-screens go WAAAAAY up when I screen at 9.6. What will drive up the price of 9.6s are increasing raw prices....GGSAE wrote:Yeah I agree dawg, CGC 9.6 is the best bargain for most if not all valiants.DawgPhan wrote:just makes the $20-30 that the 9.6's go for look like a steal. at $25-30 for those early harby's you are paying for a NM copy and the slabbing...no real markup. Yeh, but check out how much this auction for Harby 7 @ 9.8 sold forPeter Parker wrote:Nice books...nice grab Rico
, I think that price to be fair actually, based upon the long-term equity prospects of the 9.8 book

And that's on TOP of the joy you'll have from simply owning it

True, but I know many collectors (myself included) who will not buy a thing from Heritage Auctions :x add to that, the "vig" if you will, they charge the buyer for their service (10% on top of the book price I believe)Chuck wrote:Yeh, but check out how much this auction for Harby 7 @ 9.8 sold forPeter Parker wrote:Nice books...nice grab Rico

However, that example IS a drastic difference....time will tell

why don't you buy from them? Something other than the 10% markup?Peter Parker wrote:True, but I know many collectors (myself included) who will not buy a thing from Heritage Auctions :x add to that, the "vig" if you will, they charge the buyer for their service (10% on top of the book price I believe)Chuck wrote:Yeh, but check out how much this auction for Harby 7 @ 9.8 sold forPeter Parker wrote:Nice books...nice grab Rico

There are several things wrong with Heritage. They allow their employees to bid on items, which I dont like. They also seem to have some unholy alliance with the company that owns cgc. I also think that they charge both a buyer and seller's premium. Oh and when you bid online and win something you can mysteriously outbid by someone in bidding in person at a later date..sound like someone you want to do business with? Especially on high dollar stuff?Schmakt wrote:why don't you buy from them? Yes, I agree with Dawg. Some very parculiar things have happened in their auctions that never really seem to clear up.
