Confusion regarding "Black White & Bloodshot" #1

Post by TronNerd82 »

Earlier today, I went to my local comic book store and picked up a copy of Valiant's new Bloodshot comic, "Black White & Bloodshot" issue 1 (among other things), a black-and-white collection of Bloodshot stories (kind of - there is color, but the only color in the comic is red).

Without spoiling the contents of the comic (I hate spoilers and you do too), the comic opens with a foreword from Bloodshot co-creator Kevin VanHook, dedicated to the memory of his fellow Bloodshot co-creator Don Perlin, who passed away in May of this year.

VanHook states at the end that this book is the first Bloodshot project he'd worked on in ~30 years, yet reading through the comic, there doesn't seem to be any of his work within this issue.

Is this foreword perhaps reused from some other Bloodshot comic that does happen to feature VanHook's work? I'm hoping that's the case, because otherwise the foreword would make much less sense.

I've seen the art and can say for sure it's not in this issue. I hope and assume his story is in one of the upcoming issues. Probably the foreword is meant for the whole mini-series.

That's right. Kevin's story is in issue #2 according to the info on the Kickstarter page.
