When Solar The Explorer entered Unreality in 2062, presumably the version of Void he met there was also the one from 2062.

Why, then, would their getting together affect the VALIANT and Image Universes in the then-present and not in 2062?

First, discussing Deathmate on Christmas 2024 is why this forum is the best.

Second, and to the point of the post - TIME IS NOT ABSOLUTE! HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING!

You’ve missed about 200 pages of nothing. Nothing new since the counterfeits. We just replay the biggest hits of ‘04 to about ‘10 over and over and over again. Might as well be Nelly Furtado and refs betting on NBA games up in here.

2004 to 10, also known as the time when this was a vibrant fandom full of projects and excitement. As compared to now, sounds pretty good, no?

I wouldn't say the discussions on here are just replays, more like debating what peak Valiant actually is and from that what parts exactly we think Valiant should take forward into the future. Not everyone agrees, and thus the debate/discussion ensues.

Instead of sniping and condescending, why not enlighten us with your obviously superior opinions? What is peak Valiant and how could Valiant get back to the greatness we all know they're capable of. We're all ears.

The whole counterfeit controversy was a gigantic nothingburger though, right? What even came out of it? Nothing of relevance or importance.

Is it just that the nanny-nanny-boo-boo club got to pile on two of their most hated enemies, valiantdude and Shooter?

This is what I've been saying for years. Post-Unity does not hold up to serious scrutiny. Especially about a year after Unity, there are so many factual errors and contradictions it falls apart like wet paper at any serious attempt to read it all as one consistent 'reality'. Just like most other comic universes, a heavy dose of suspension of disbelief and self-selective editing (aka head canon) is needed for it all to make sense. Oh well, that's comics, have fun.

Peak Valiant has come and gone. Twice. They could do it again any number of ways. I would expect the most efficient way would be a clean break in the continuity, even stopping publishing for a little while. I am ever optimistic - maybe the next time will be different. I always hope a Valiant renaissance is just around the next corner.

The flow of the internet has shifted away from message boards pretty much mostly leaving malcontents and fossils scared of change. I hope I am more the latter than the former. Peak Valiantfans is gone too. I am suspicious of smart phones and the newer social media that has replaced these message boards.

Eh, I don't buy the message board argument. For certain demographics the message board is still a thriving avenue for fandoms to exist in. One example, college football fans. College football fan message boards are even more popular now than they've ever been in, even in the age of twitter and everything else. Even though some of them still use extremely outdated message board types.

No this fandom was not killed by the internet shifting away from message boards.

As an admin and moderator of message boards for over 15 years the simple truth is that message boards are dying for a couple reasons the first reason is the biggest one the cost.

With the exception of Proboards message boards like Valiant Fans, Seibertron, and TFW2005 are generally being ran on private servers and the cost and technically experience is seen to be very high (I remember the owner of Seibertron once saying that hosting the entire site was $700 a month and that was several years ago) and those sites are huge and message boards are only a small part of the site. Now granted that probably has changed a lot over the years but still the perception of it being a costly and technically harder is something I've never escaped from. The sad truth is AFAIK Proboards is the last free message board company out there while other companies like XSOrbit, Conforumns, and Intellivision have all went out business.

Sure I know 4Chan, Reddit, and Discord are still in business but honestly some of the stuff that I've seen and read about them make the most toxic message boards seem like Disney World and some of the bad reputations of message boards have gotten have come from those sites.

Make a message board about a niche hobby/company/subject I think leads to slow growth and stagnation, especially if the hobby/company/subject is not doing well (or is perceived not to be doing well), or is like Valiant Comics for example are considered at best a cult classic and a waste of time at worst. So you have to add other forums not dedicated to Valiant Comics or comics in general to keep people coming back.

More people are using their phones than a PC to type on sites, I think message boards aren't phone friendly as some people think.

Proboards don't put up with BS, there a video game message board there that I frequent used to have a political thread that was very popular until some people reported that that a video game message board had a single political thread (not a forum just one single thread in general discussions forum where people there could talk about real world politics) and because some people there had problems there reported the thread to Proboards and Proboards told the admin that they couldn't talk about real world politics there anymore. People were upset and some left over it, but the admins had to it because that was what Proboards said. Given that a lot of the games we talk about do have politics and political metaphors and allegory in them, I once had to edit a post 3 times because I used the words progressive and conservative to describe characters in a video game.

Also many message boards have staff members that have to spend a lot time on Twitter/X, Bluesky, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, eBay, and other major social media platforms to keep up with news about whatever they're about.
Know this: I would rather be hated for being honest for my opinions, than being loved as a liar!
