Valiant Beyond … Postponed

Post by RyanMcLelland »

Just read about Alien Books delaying Valiant Beyond because of the Diamond bankruptcy.

Do you think they’ll wait to see if they can get paid what they are owed from Diamond to publish? See what the outcome is? Move to another distributor?

I didn’t think it would hit them so heavily. I’m so sad for this and hope they figure out new distribution. I would buy direct, if necessary.

Poor creators who were counting on the work.

This is what happens why you have a monopoly. Companies like Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, IDW, Boom, Dynamite, Archie, and several others are going to be hurting.

Online store that could work but again shipping and handling and international orders and cyber security all issues and maybe they could also try to be a third-party store on Amazon.

New distributor but right now those are few and new. None of them are big enough to take rest of the comic book industry,

Go 100% digital.

I won’t buy digital. I don’t enjoy it, and I bet many others feel the same.

Diamond's troubles make me think of Bad Idea's self-distribution model. It's like they saw it coming...

Interesting thought. Either they really knew what they were doing… or got lucky.

I hope this is not the end of printed comics. Digital is ultimately the future. But, I was hoping not in my life time.

I've tried reading digital books and comics, and it's just not te same. I prefer to have the hard copy in my hands, flciking through the pages. And if you need to go back to a previous issue to check something, it's better to have them next to you to flick between the different issues.

Hopefully Valiant beyond is cancelled as it would have been a car crash in the hands of Fred Van Lente or whoever that had lined up for it.

Alien are far too ambitious, they can’t deliver a decent Bloodshot book, never mind crossovers and multi-universe stuff.

I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?
