Deathmate! It COULD have been a great story with great art, but it was just thrown together for the sake of doing a crossover thanks to Jim Lee and Steve Massursky <spelling?>

The story could have been a LOT better and the shipping delays killed what story and art that there was. It just fed into the popularity of both universes and people from both sides were disappointed from the lack of direction of the whole thing. Basically a mini-series whose sole purpose was to "milk the cow until it was dry" in my opinion...

Can I go back and change all three? They all had promise but were killed in the execution of the idea.

Deathmate should have been more like the prologue and epilogue, great art and good writing. Image should have provided the art and Valiant the story and all would have been well. The Valiant books were decent, well written and solid art. The image books had unreadable stories and decent art at times.

Chaos should have been developed a bit and extended out another month or so to give the story time to be told.

Birthquake should have brought in some solid writers to go with the new artists.

All three were disasters in some form or another. Deathmate seemed to be all flash and no substance (typical Image). Chaos Effect was a little bland in the story department and the ending was just plain stupid. Birthquake.... hmm… it should probably be erased from history all together.

I hate to say it, but Deathmate showed the most promise out of the three.

Deathmate had the chance to really be big. The idea was there, the creators were there, and the fans were there. Both companies just dropped the ball. I agree that each company should have stuck with what they were good at. Instead they just threw things out with big delays that annoyed the fans. The companies thought the fans would buy anything whenever it came out. There were a limited # of books so they should have been out on time. It seems like neither company knew a lot about each others creations, so they should have planned better. There were some issues done well, but not all. The bad ones are what the people remember.

I wish the series had been done right. It could have been the highlight of both Image and Valiant.

Birthquake, it took a snowball's chance in hell that the books would get back on track and turned it in to none at all. The other two events were very disappointing but don't even come close in the amount of damage done to the company and characters.

I agree, and that's why I voted for Birthquake as well. Although Deathmate was a train wreck, it didn't really have a lot of repurcussions in regular Valiant continuity. The whole thing could really be ignored if you wish.

Birthquake, on the other hand, destroyed a lot of what was really good about Valiant.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I never read Birthquake, but after careful consideration, I'd say Chaos Effect was worse off than Deathmate - as other have said, DM showed the most promise, just didn't deliver. CE was the let-down that made me stop buying Valiants back in the day.

I think it's ironic that a boring event like Chaos spawns one of the most sought after incentive books.

Waiting for those Deathmate books sucked. I flat out just didn't care for it because there were too many hands in the pot so to speak.

Deathmate could have been, but wasn't, and it is a shame. A lot of wasted work went into the project. The Prologue and Epilogue was about the only thin worth reading, and the orange, pink, and green previews weren't too bad for as short as they were. They set you up for a steaming puile of crap. Garbage, if you will. The Topps card set that came out for the Deathmate series was pretty damn bad *SQUEE*, though.

Birthquake was just a bad idea, period.

Birthskree...get rid of Birthskree...

While Deathdookie was bad (I blame Image) the valiant parts were coherent and on time...

I didn't mind most parts of Chaos Implosion either...didn't care for the way some things ended but hey...beggars can't be choosers...
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?
