In live in central Louisiana and my wife works in the ER (she's a clerk, not a nurse) at one of the local hospitals. They had 3 busses show up last night of evacuees with various injuries and illnesses. Many of them were dead already and appeared to have been dead for a while. They had to separate the dead and the living as they unloaded the busses. They had not been triaged or treated before leaving New Orleans and were still covered in debris. They were severely dehydrated and couldn't remember the last time they had something to drink.

There were rumors going around yesterday about problems caused by some of the evacuees at the shelters - carjackings, shootings, robberies, etc. The police announced last night that those were all just rumors, there had not been a spike in crime, and the evacuees had not caused any problems. (They did confirm that two evacuees were arrested as they were unloaded from the busses - one for an illegal firearm, and one who had a pound of cocaine.) However, one of my wife's cousins has been working at one of the shelters and said the police are saying that to try to keep the locals calm - it has been happening and she's seen it. Most of the evacuees are good, yet traumatized people, but there are also many here who are the same caliber of people as those currently looting New Orleans and shooting at rescue personnel.

Gas approached $3.00 a gallon here, but never quite went over it. It was around $2.65 for regular most places. However, about half the stations are currently out of gas.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Bunch of *SQUEE* animal, mutants in that city we see :x preying on people in a time of desperation...pathetic waste of beings they are.

not that I wouldn't have expected just that, i've been there a few times, most of that city WAS a DUMP!!!!

Don't want to sound/read "racist" but...well, do the math yourself :!: perhaps a "cleansing" from God was necessary, juding by the behavoir exhibited :o

May God bless the good and righteous people :hope:
