Busiek's Conan
Kurt Busiek is leaving the title
This guy is hands down one of my favorite comic book writers ever. He's just great at EVERYTHING comic-booky! He can write NEW stories, while always citing awesome amounts of continuity, his characterization is great, and his use of back-story is phenomenal...
His writing is the way that comic book writing SHOULD have evolved if publishers didn't skew the growth with "Shock Jock" writers.
I NEVER would have read a book with a Conan-like character, but I've bought the book since day one on Busieks name alone, and I've never been disappointed. I'll try it out for a while longer to see where it goes with the new team....

If that is true, then that will be some of the best and most entertaining Superman comics written probably since.... well .... ever.
DC has convuluted Superman so much with so many different titles that I'm not even going to begin to pick those up. Maybe if they do some of his stuff in trade, I'll buy that in the future...

Tim Truman is the next writer on Conan. I'll probably give him one issue to impress me and drop it. I love Conan but $3 a pop is a bit expensive for my blood when I can fish some really good stories out of the back issues for a buck a pop.
I loved most of Busiek's first two plotlines on the title. But Conan's kind of gravitated to the bottom of my pile lately. The last adaption of a Howard story was so long, wordy and tedious I haven't even read the Tower of the Elephant issues yet (I plan on getting it over with in one sitting). The book had just really started slowing down. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I read it.

I agree with you Todd. My last 5 Conans have been collecting dust unread, it just seems there hasn't been much direction in the recent issues.
I think Tim Truman will do a great job, can't wait to see what he'll bring to the series.
Any Conan fans might be interested in this direct to dvd animated movie coming out next year, a lot of the pre-production artwork was done by legendary Michael W. Kaluta and Mark Schultz. Looks amazing.

Red Nails the movie?!?
Wow!
Any idea when that's coming out and if it's be direct to "video" or big screen?
It's one of the original Robert E. Howard short stories.
There are 3 really good collections of the original stories that just came out in the last few years. The latest one that just came out a month ago includes Red Nails.

Not to mention an absolutely amazing adaption by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor Smith that many consider the best thing they put out together. I got it as a one-shot special that reprinted the whole thing in the 80's (it was originally published in chapters in the B & W Conan magazine if I remember correctly). Good stuffRyan wrote:It's one of the original Robert E. Howard short stories.
