Spidey's new costume...

http://www.marvel.com/publishing/storie ... .htm?id=67

Okay, I know they never say these things are temporary because they're trying to get readers who don't know better to buy the thing but, c'mon, we've around the block few times here. Anyone want to take bets on how long Spidey will be in his "new" costume?

It kind of reminds me of the costume for Spiderman 2099. Except the colors are different of course.

Yeah, no offense to anyone, but that look for Spidey can be described in two words:

Butt ugly.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I hope Civil War doesn't take Iron Man two steps backwards... the speculation is that the Spidey suit will be used as leverage the way that the shield was used with Cap back during armor wars. If this is done right, it could be very entertaining.... if it's done right... :hope:

I didn't know Spidey was gay!

:o

Let's hope this is temporary (I'm sure it is). I don't mind them screwing around with stuff here and there but I've been reading Spidey books for a looong time.

Didn't they try and change his costume back in the 90's?

No but they did change the clone's costume when he replaced the real deal.

The real Spiderman did get to wear a black costume for a bit in the 80's but then it tried to eat him :)

And occasionally Spiderman has pulled out special outfits for special jobs (I him remember seeing in "Spider armor" in one issue in the 90's)

But none of them looked this bad.

Considering all the great costumes he's had over the years, that one's just ridiculous. I'd much rather see him back in the black costume (sans symbiote) or that chrome silver one.

Iron Man has very close ties to this, and I've seen another online image done by Quesada with Spidey swingin' around in that new costume. In THAT image it actually looks really, really cool.

My opinion of the new costume is that its being dumped on the readers.
Others may like it, but I don't. JMO.

Horrid, I love Spidy and have suffered through some not so great times but why are they doing this when the book is going good right now? I'll be buying but I'm not thrilled about this.

WHY would you change the costume now with the third movie coming out?

Because they don't care about the fans they just want another gimmick to get everone talking about the book.

Looks pretty lame. Spidey sales must be at an all time low.
We all know the red and blue will come back. It always does.

IMO the black costume is the only other one that works for him.

Is it coming out really soon? I would would be shocked if Spiderman wears this new costume more than 6 monthes (assuming Civil War happens before Fall).

Yeah, well Marvel does what it always does... and from fanzines and message boarding, they realize that Iron Man fans are loyal to the character, so now they're *SQUEE* IM by throwing him in the Spidey mix and having Stark make a costume for the character to more or less add Iron Man sales to the Spidey sales to pick up the slump.

If Civil War actually turns out to be good and all of this "stage setting" somehow makes sense, I'll be the first to be happy about it, but look at the lame 6-issue excuse that was House of M. The only nice thing about that story was how it drew from continuity established years back (with the Scarlet Witch, Avengers West Coast issues it was spawned from) and created a natural evolution for the character. Essesntially, the only good thing about House of M was the Avengers Dissasembled story... LOL

God, was this a stream of consciousness post, or what?

Please say it ain't so......that costume looks like a bad ripoff of spiderwoman's costume. I hope they stick with the red and blue.
I typically hate it when the original costume gets canned although I would prefer to see Wolverine back in his tan and brwon outfit.

If they want to sell some Iron Man comics they'll have to try and get them out on time. The current lag with IM is atrocious.
