...and will have my Valiant stuff with me. Please say "hello!" if you know me from here! I'll be the one who treats his Valiants like they deserve to be treated.
I'll be setting up in NYC on May 7th at the "comic book only show" as well. I'll have my Valiants there as well, of course.

Re: I'm setting up in Boston tomorrow, the 23rd of April...
No board members introduced themselves, but I did a lot of talking about Valiant.ckb wrote:...and will have my Valiant stuff with me. Please say "hello!" if you know me from here! I'll be the one who treats his Valiants like they deserve to be treated.

I must have sold over $50 in various late-run issues and pre-unity. At least three people filling in checklists of stuff they missed. Got $15 for a Solar 60 with no trouble. A lot of people looking closely at the premuim books. I have numerical strict CGC-type grades on the back, but no one seems to trust them. They still want that 9.0 to be a 9.6.

There was someone there with two long boxes of just signed books with COA, selling them for nothing. I picked up about 5 Valiants and left 10 more. A couple ultraverse too that I'd thought I'd pass on to you Uverse-heads. I'll post pics today or tomorrow.
The highlight of my day was when a 10 year old kid come up to me and asked "do you have any of the Nintendo Comics System comics." The look on my face must have been priceless cause I was utterly stunned. I had never been asked the question before. I think I said something like "Are you kidding?" - I thought I was being punkd or something.
I figured I was going to have some downtime at the con, so I brought some work to do. One of the things I brought were a stack a CGC rejects from my last submission. And, of course, I had submitted a SMB SE and a SMB 5 for a pre-screen at 9.6. They are both stunning but they failed (I'm considering lowering my standard to 9.4 on these). I told the kid to come back in 10 minutes while I dug them out. You should have seen the look on his face when he saw me with them when he came back. I thought $7 was fair, and he did to. So did Dad.

The conversations I had with John and Stan were the highlight of the show for me. Great catching up with you both.svair wrote:Met up with ckb (chris) and Escaflown (stanley)...we all had a nice chat..
small show but something to do on a sunday!...
It was great meeting up as always guys!!
Big thanks to Stan for bringing his Turok 47 9.8 for me to buy. It's now safely tucked away in my personal set. I'll be listing the 9.6 it replaces sometime soon.
Not as much Valiant interest as in Boston. I made some small low dollar sales but no interest in pre-unity or the late run books. Actually, I did meet up with someone looking for the last half of the Turok run, but was surprised to see them at $2-$6. I wasn't moving on those since I know they are hard to find. I did give the fellow, who was unaware of this website, one of Greg's "introduction to Valiant collecting" sheets. Hope to see him here soon.
