Super-duper-sized Scan of Four Color #596childres wrote:Thats a nice looking Solar, Greg!Not as nice as that absolute killer Highest Grade Four Color #596 you have, but still def. nice!
If you get a chance, I would appreciate it if you would post another scan of your Turok. If a Turok fan hasn't seen it, they should.

According to the CGC census, there's a higher grade now (a 9.0), and this is one of two copies at 8.5. That's quite alright, though. I bought it before there was a CGC census, so I didn't know it was highest then, and it's ok that it's not highest now.

How's this for only $100?:
I went to a rural farm auction today and got 14 comics from around 1951-53. The page whitness on these is un-freakin-believable!
Here's the list of what I got for only $100:
1. Haunted Thrills #1 Fine+;
2. Big Town #8 Fine+;
3. Suspense Detective #1 F+/VF;
4. Black Cat Mystery #35 Fine;
5. TALES FROM THE CRYPT #30 Fine+;
6. Jungle Comics #148 Fine+;
7. Jungle Comics #156 Fine;
8. Police Comics #117 VG+;
9. Web Of Mystery #14 VG+;
10. Space Action #3 VG+;
11. Wings Comics #114 Fine;
12. House Of Mystery #4 Fine+;
13. Tales Of Horror #1 Fine (cover fade);
14. Black Magic V2 #7 (coverless--Simon & Kirby).
My grades are conservative. I was the only bidder because I started the bidding out at $100, which I believe scared off anyone else who might have been interested. Of course, I might have got them cheaper, but if I would have REALLY low-balled it at $50, everyone would have jumped on it, & I might have paid double, or more. These books are conservatively worth over $1,000.
I have had a good comic book day today!
I am happy. In to the Vault they go!---Steve

The good news is I have a comic size Shadowman V2 #1 special edition coming my way for $14. The bad news is the seller sent it in a bubble mailer with no card board. All I can do is pray at this point.

Man, what is with these people??? Will you be able to get a refund if it gets F-ed up?

I don't see anything 'gold' about the 1,200 litho I have, but I guess that would be the one I have unless I'm missing something. I believe I read that the 'platinum' one is signed by both and limited to only 100.tarheelmarine wrote:There were two versions--gold and platinum for the litho.mrwoogieman wrote:It's the Palmiotti/Quesada litho, signed by Quesada and limited to 1,200. This guy truly didn't know to use cardboard or another method to protect comics during the transit process. He will in the future so other customers will benefit. To be honest, If packaging wasn't a priority, I can't put much faith in his grading. The book probably wasn't in nm/m condition to begin with. After a ride with the usps, forget about it.Brother J wrote:GJB wrote:Good deals, brianlock.

Awesome!!!brianlock wrote:I picked up Magnus: Steel Nation & Invasion, along with the Unity Slipcase with Vols 1-4 for $15 total! I was pretty excited to see them in the 50% off bins, and even more excited when I expected the Unity slipcase to be at least $20, but told that it was only $5.

$15? Wow! I sure hope you don't sell them, cause that's a GREAT price!!

Wife took me to Shreveport today for a little birthday lunch at one of my favorite restaurants and also to visit the two comic shops there. I haven't been to a comic shop in about 8 months.
First shop had not a single Valiant back issue. They didn't even have any discount bins. They did have a couple copies of the Rai and X-O tpbs including 1 each of the blue covers. That was it for Valiant, though. I always try to buy something when I visit a shop, so I picked up a Ghost Rider back issue for $3.00.
I had more success at the second shop. No Valiants in the regular back issue section - they were all in the 50 cent boxes! Of course, it was mostly a ton of Rai & TFF #9s and other commons. There were also a few Acclaim books like early issues of Troublemakers and Shadowman Vol2, but nothing real desirable. No Q&W or later issues of any of the books. I picked up some issues of Secret Weapons that I was missing, an X-O #11, Valiant Reader, etc.
But the BEST thing was 2 copies of Unity 2000 #2 (still bagged with the correct cover for #1) - for 50 cents each.
Sure, it's not an amazing deal to die for, but it is my best deal of late.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
