What should I buy?

Good day, here is my first real post (I intorduced myself in the "my story" section).

Summertime is perfect for re-reading my Valiants, and this summer I want to add to my collection. I am asking the board what titles you would recommend, I would like to get a run or two so I can read a complete story line. I only have a limited amount of cash, so "all" is not a possibility.

Here is what I have:
A&A: complete
Bloodshot: 1-20
E.W.: 1-26
H.A.R.D.:1-8
Harby:1-34 (I only have the TPB, so no #5 :( )
Magnus: 0-27
Rai:0-12
Secret Weapons: 1
2nd life Dr. M.: 1-11
Shadowman:0-26 & 29
Solar:1-6 (missing #7 & 8 :() 9-24
XO: 0-20 (no 1/2 or data base)

I have the Unity books, some of the Deathmate books, some of the Chaos Eff., Mag. vs. Pred., Harby Files, Secret of Val Univ. #1 & #3,

Well thats about it. So my peeps, what run, or runs do you recommend I put my limited finances towards. I am looking for the best stories.

Can you help a brother out?

Christian

I'd complete these first:

Shadowman
Bloodshot
EW
X-O
and I enjoyed the Timewalker series although others on the board may not agree....

If I were you I'd start by getting the 3 preUnity books you still need. They finish the early Solar run & the early Harbinger run which were 2 of the best. Lower grade copies won't set you back too much... Cheers, ~Pete

I'm currently re-re-re-re-reading the Bloodshot series. I re-re-re-re-reead the A&A series a few months ago and the first 12 issues are just hilarious.

I agree, the beginning of A&A was prob. my fave. BWS was just great. The end of the A&A run was not as good, but still enjoyable. Armstrong just cracked me up. I re-read the early A&A issues when I bought them new.

You'll find a lot of the later Valiant books will be that way, only not so enjoyable.....

Stick with pre-unity and unity. THEN worry about the later stuff.

XO 68 and Magnus 64 will down right make you mad, angry, pull your hair out.

Out of the stuff you don't have, I enjoyed the Bloodshot & Shadowman series the most, but thats just my opinion.

I have extras of Solar 8 and Harby 5. I think I am out of Solar 7's though. PM me. $10 shipped for the pair? $8 media mail. Just as a favor. I really try not to do deals under $20.

Yeah, same here, I would throw Solar in the mix also. They're all good reading material.

I agree with everyone. Pick up the Solars and the Harby before you bother with anything else. After that, you'll be able to pick up the next 15 to 20 issues of all the titles you currently have on the cheap. Shadowman and Harbinger would be the titles that I would recommend completing first since you have so few of them that remain to be acquired.

I would get Solar 7&8 (solar 7 may just be the best solar book)
Then I would get Harbinger 5 (also this may be the best harbinger book)
Then Quantum & Woody and the Rai Maleev books.

Others that are good that you don't have are the first few Bloodshot VH2s, Ninjak VH2, Armed & Dangerous and Timewalker to name a few. :thumb:
