It IS an awesome book....but you are charging more than nearly everyone else selling CGC books, and there's no need to.

That makes you look bad.

Plus the '9.4, looks 9.8'...there's a reason it's 9.4 and not 9.8.

It just does a number on your credibility, ya know?

People forgive and forget about you plajarizing the description, that we can forgive or I can at least. What's disturbing is the frikkin $13 shipping. Drop that to $5 and you'd most likely see your bid double maybe triple, just cuz you seem like a magnanamous nice guy.

Make more money and possibly get more people interested in your other auctions too all because you decided to let us pay you the other $8 in our generous bids on your book most likely netting you more money than at $13 shipping *firm.

Meanwhile you laugh all the way to the bank. See how that works. Let us think we're getting some extra "value" and we'll shop with you. Make it obvious there is little "value" associated with your auctions and a few may still bid on your "Hot" books but most others will be ignored.

So my 2 cents, drop the shipping at least in half. Otherwise it may backfire in your face like a vintage episode of Herby the Luv Bug!

But then again with some of the Ebay Maniacs it may still go for $75+, who knows.
I seem to remember Whetteon getting blasted for using pics from this site in an auction. Now this buy goes and does one better and is seemingly getting a free pass..What gives? Whet has been a good member and got little slack and now we are forgiving this guy for a seemingly worse transgression. Have we had a change of heart? Personally I dont really care for this seller's attitude.

Maybe it's someone who only buys comics between 8-11PM Eastern and Pacific, 7-10 Central.

Not that it matters in this particular case (if it's $13, then it's $13)...

BUT...

Domestic priority mail for a CGC comic with delivery confirmation is $6.20 OR LESS.
The box is free... so all you have to come up with is "filler"...
Styrofoam peanuts, bubble-wrap, or newspaper... should be 50cents or less.

Shipping prices over $7, then, are not-too-subtle ways to add profits.

"Handling" is a joke.. of course you have to "handle" the book,
it doesn't box itself up and mail itself out.
But why are some hands more expensive than the hands of people
who charge $3 for shipping? Are they solid gold? Do they have a PhD?

That is all to say... we're not fooled.

(Addendum: Charging too much for media mail is a scam as well...) :P

everybody on ebay chargese more for shipping than the actual costs. But you see it, and if you dont like it .. dont bid on it .. simple fact....
jeez louizzz
might i add that there are auctions that dont tell you the shipping until after the auction is ended and they screw you with the shipping costs.
You see what you get and it's your choice if you want it....if you dont want it.. move on..............but you have to agree that it is a bomb book....so let's stop the wimpering, we're all grown adults here.

Wow did you just finish "How to make friends and influence people"...I think I know who wrote that book also. Me I always try and email the person and see what shipping cost are before I bid...I like being an informed customer....also you are wrong that everyone on ebay charge more than the actual cost. Not everyone is a hipping profiteer...Not everyone likes to tack on a few dollars at the end because "everyone else does it." There are still a few good ebayers out there...oh well...I guess some people will never learn....

the reason people put high shipping, is ebay doesn't get a part of that for final cost...I just take that into consideration for total cost of book....tho I don't really like it either..

Ah, the old "it's okay, every one else is doing it" argument. Anyone got a steep cliff? I personally think charging over twice what the actual shipping costs are is one of the worst forms of customer service. I don't ask for shipping costs in advance, but I'm lost as a customer if this crapola happens.

I actually take a .$50 to $.75 loss on shipping, after figuring in a roll of bubble wrap from Target, & the gas $$$ to & from the post office. Not to mention the $300.00 I spent on a scanner to scan the book.... oh, you would'nt know about that. Sorry.

it's a buyer's market, trying to make it a seller s market....if you dont want it dont bid on it but it's a great book so even if the winning is low, the person will get a great deal.

AND...have you seen this sneaky new way they're gouging for their S&H? They're saying things like 'actual shipping PLUS a $3 handling charge' (emphasis mine)

Can you believe it? They make it seem to the casual observer that shipping is ONLY $3, but NO...it's ACTUAL shipping PLUS $3.

Someone....somewhere.....please.....tell me where you can make $3 PER PACKAGE to PACK and SHIP packages. I'll do it all day long for $36 or more a day. PLEASE.....tell me where!

Ok...*I* pay for gas to the PO, too, but I don't take ONE package (as some of these 'I have to pay for gas to get to the post office' people want to make it seem)...I take all that I have at the moment, in ONE trip. The GAS that is burned getting to the PO, amortized over the amount of packages I have, is something in the neighborhood of about 2 cents per...

and people want to make an issue of it.

I usually ship at fixed cost. For example 1-10 books shipped media mail is 3.50. While it is tru that shipping one book might only cost me 1.75 or so to ship, 10 books would be a little more. I list that my shipping includes a small handling fee. How much that is depends on the number of books bought and the actually shipping cost. I also usually add delivery confirmation or ship regular first class depending on the cost. Most of the time 1 to 3 books can be shipped 1st class for .25 to .50 more and I will add DC. So if making an extra dollar for my time makes me a bad guy then I guess I am.

No, 'everybody' does not.

And....my friend....it has NOTHING to do with 'if you don't like it, don't bid'....and that's a suggestion/command, not a 'simple fact'. It has to do with something called 'ethics' and doing the right thing. It doesn't cost YOU $13 to ship that book in EITHER actual shipping, OR 'handling', YOU know it, WE know it, you're just looking to pad your pockets

LET THE BOOK DO THAT ON ITS OWN.

When you come to the board and say 'don't like it, too bad, move on', that tells us a few things about you:

1. You don't care about your customers, because you are ripping people off on 'S&H'.

2. You have a poor attitude when it comes to selling and being a salesman.

3. You have questionable ethics.

*I* wouldn't EVER do business with someone with the 'don't like it, don't bid' attitude...IMAGINE you walking into a, say, restaurant and ordering something, and saying 'hey, could you hold the (insert ingredient you don't like here) please?' ...

...and their response is 'Sorry, that's the way it is, if you don't like it, there's the door.'

Now...imagine if you ALLERGIC to said ingredient, but you loved the dish anyways..

Can you IMAGINE?????? Do you know what a FIT you would pitch at that attitude?

So...WHY is it not only ACCEPTABLE, but almost to the point of being a REQUIREMENT to have that attitude on eBay? You wouldn't DARE let YOURself be treated that way...WHY do you do it to others?

MAKES...NO....SENSE.

See what I'm getting at here?

It's ALLLLLLL about the quality customer service.

You're right about one thing: screwing people on bogus S&H AFTER the auction is bad...

But screwing them BEFOREHAND is JUST as bad. It's like "Hey...I'm going to pickpocket you, but I'm letting you know ahead of time, so that's ok, and if you don't like it, well, don't get on this train."

Does that sound right? Hey, they KNEW about it ahead of time, so it's THEIR FAULT that they got on the train, knowing full well what was going to happen....right?

Sorry, friend....doesn't fly.

It is wrong to steal someone else's work and use it for your benefit without obtaining permission of the person/entity you stole it from....oh, sorry, 'copied' it from.

It's called 'unjust enrichment', and it's against the law.

Also against eBay policy, though they don't get involved unless it's an 'outrageous' amount...what defines 'outrageous'? Only eBay knows.

Suffice it to say, you can't put a, say, Harb #0 up for $1, tack on $50 in S&H, and have it work.

This was more in response to Woosuh's comment about shipping... not really me complaing about shipping costs. I like to keep my shipping costs as minimal as I can, & I've almost have it down to a scienc now. :D
