Re: Biggest VALIANT writing mistake
I actually will disagree with this, First I liked Zep, she was an atypical character in that she was far from sexy or cool. She was one of the most relatebale character on the team. I liked the renegade theme but eventually you need to examine more.Elveen wrote:Yes, that always puzzled me also....400yrs wrote:Not the biggest, but making Zephyr the character of focus for a few issues of Harby was a big writing mistake. 2 issues of that crap and I said, "I ain't buying this *SQUEE* anymore." Never returned. Don't know how it ended.Elveen wrote:IYO, what was the biggest VALIANT mistake that was made in the books?,
Zephyr was the character I was least interested in.. even Flamingo would have been better, or how about a new interesting character.... and Harby always worked for me because the kids were renegrade...
I'm with 4 hun on this one
For the story I really enjoyed it alot, We got an inside look at Harbinger, it created alot of gray areas by making you see that not every one in Harby was evil and it began to build the character of Zep into the leader she is destined to become(see Rai 0)...
Yes i missed Pete and Kris and Mingo but the new harby was still good readin and provided lots of insights plus the debut of Sean Chen! Oh and they eventually go renegade and return to the roots of the book

Geoff being lost in the Chaos effect. he was such an integral part of the VU and had a destiny, i thoguht replacing him was a bad move...in retrospect i just read EW 28 and GEOMANCER1-4 for the first time and I dug it because it explored the nature of the geomancy... but it quickly became generic and failed to truly explore an interesting concept...still like Geoff better

Yeah, another brilliant move. They basically undid just about everything good that Jim had set up for them before they fired him. Replacing Geoff with the blind hippy ex cop was a terrible idea. The Zodfather wrote:Geoff being lost in the Chaos effect. he was such an integral part of the VU and had a destiny, i thoguht replacing him was a bad move...in retrospect i just read EW 28 and GEOMANCER1-4 for the first time and I dug it because it explored the nature of the geomancy... but it quickly became generic and failed to truly explore an interesting concept...still like Geoff better

Rai #9 was Sean's first work in comics and it established him in the industry. By the time Harbinger #26 came out Sean was clearly making a name for himself. The new harby was still good readin and provided lots of insights plus the debut of Sean Chen! The Zodfather

Yeah, I realized after I logged off that Chen started on Rai, but as i didnt read Rai my first exposure to him was Harbinger, hemce why it got mixed up in my mind...still the art was beautiful
Oh and I didnt mind Solar the destroyer as a kid, but when I sat down and read it as an adult I thought it was terrible

With ya Slym. If Solar was created from Phil's mind from reading Dr Solar comics, what must he have been reading to manifest the Destroyer.........Pro Wrestling Illustrated?

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
