It's Friday! The TOP 10 SIGNS YOU LOVE VALIANT TOO MUCH

Post by Valiant_1 »

Hey guys! Haven't been on in a while - thought I'd take a moment and have a little fun:

THE TOP 10 SIGNS YOU MIGHT LOVE VALIANT A LITTLE TOO MUCH:

10) You have two cats named Archer and Armstrong.

9) You've "googled" Jim Shooter's home phone number.

8) You saw the Valiant logo at the top floor of the Sears Tower in Chicago.

7) Comic dealers point towards the 50-cent boxes as soon as you walk in their shops wearing your DEATHMATE shirt.

6) You OWN a Deathmate shirt.

5) Every online avatar you use is a radioactive symbol.

4) You've tried "Darque Brew".

3) You do a double-take at the video store when you see Steven Seagal's "SHADOWMAN" on the shelf of your local video store.

2) You wasted at least 5 minutes trying to explain the difference between V1 and V2 to a bud.

...and the #1 SIGN YOU MIGHT LOVE VALIANT A LITTLE TOO MUCH...

1) In 1992, you traded a NM HULK #181 for 10 Magnus Robot Fighter #1s. *

Thanks for reading! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Those are great!

Can we add to the list?

(Not that I've actual done any of these...)

- You've ever given the name "Creddick" for a reservation at a restaurant.

- When you're behind a Toyota you think "Harada".

- Commercials for vehicles that mention 'torque' make you think of Harbinger #6.

- You've ever seen a copy of Dark Knight Returns #1 at a comic shop
and been slightly disappointed it wasn't Harbinger #13.

- You've actually taken the time to explain that Radioactive Man is a spoof on Dr. Solar.

- You told your grandma that a new Harbinger book is coming out, and she didn't have to ask "What is Harbinger?"

- You've watched a Nova special on the Big Bang and hoped the name "Seleski" might be mentioned.

- You know that Futurama is set in NorthAm.

- At some point, you've seen a re-run of Jim Carrey's "The Mask" on TBS and checked the wall behind the Ben Stein character's desk for Shadowman's mask.

- You can no longer tell whether a radiation symbol is upside down or not.

- You watch old "World's Strongest Man" competitions just to hear them say "Magnus".

- You consider the phrase, "your eyes are all bloodshot" as a compliment.

- You consider rye to be the coolest of all breads.

- You're still working on an acceptible Led Zepplin joke that somehow works Faith Herbert into the punchline...

- You are excited for half-a-second in Home Depot every time you walk down the aisle with solar lighting.

- You've imagined entering your house by jumping/crashing through the front window.

- You've thought of visiting a church just because they had the word "Unity" on their sign.

- You consider tic-tac-toe a subliminal advertisement for X-O Manowar.

- When someone starts talking about their grandmother you picture a giant robot.

Dude. Seriously. I SO thought about the rye bread thing. I just hope I never flip my RYE bread looking for a copy of MAGNUS #5.

Very funny, it made me laugh out loud. It seems Valiantitis has infected more people than I thought.

How about:

You NEVER use the terms North America, or South America... but rather North Am and South Am..

Every time I play RISK, either on table or on Conquerclub.com, I use those terms.. Its the VALIANT in me :thumb:

Not to take away from the Swedish Magnus, but my favorite was always Magnus ver Magnusson.
- You've imagined entering your house by jumping/crashing through the front window.
Just to understand this one could be on the list.

- When everyone in the local comic book shop ducks and covers if someone states something negative about Jim Shooter or Bob Hall to you.

- When The Church Of Jesus Christ & Latter Day Saints avoids your house for fear of being handed another copy of "Man Of The Atom: Revelations #1".

- There are pictures of you in a Valiant Costume...

- You've ever named a character in a game after a Valiant character...

- Jim Caliafiore starts sketching a random Valiant character immediately upon seeing you at a Con...

- Jim knows which characters he's already done for you...

- Joe Quesada knows you as "the guy who keeps bringing me Ninjak #1's to sign"...

Uh, not that ANY of these have happened to me... no, really, I mean it...

OH...and the Hulk # 181 for the Magnus #1s....

...that really happened! :)

In the long run, I have to say it probably wasn't a terrific fiscal investment, but I can honestly say that I have had the most fun collecting Valiant to this day then I probably would ever had just looking at my Hulk #181. A good long term investment in my happiness, and the folks I've met collecting Valiant have the same love for it that I do.

Ok, I'll say it: group hug.
