Back after years, and asking for advice...
Hi guys, I was a major Valiant supporter back in the early days - probably the only true permanent french valiant fan -, to the end. I remember the joy of receiving and reading those great books, and loved the community too. I waited for Joe Petrilak's info mails with impatience and came here on this forum (former version) a couple of time. Work and life have let me less time to be active on forums and to read comics, but I am still waiting for Valiant revival (as for Defiant, too). As soon as new series come, I will buy them.
I am beginning to prepare our moving and... I must check and store all my comics. We go to a smaller place and I have big concessions to make with my collections... As I was a major supporter - and Mile High comics customer - I bought multiple versions of each title as long as I could. We are moving to a smaller place and will have very high costs, so I have decided to sell the extra titles.
I don't want to scalp or speculate, just get correct normal price - of course, if they go up I will be happy - and sell as much issues as possible: I won't go to ebay with incredible prices as I have seen some.
I just would like to know what you, Valiant fans, would do: sell complete sets or individuals? Sets of 5 or 10 or more? Of course, I don't have complete series because I had to stop buying extras when my bank account got too dry This said, I have multiple copies of every early titles.
If you have any advices about the way I should do, knowing that I miss time, I will greatly appreciate it. I am currently opening the boxes and holding these great comics again in my hand is a real joy!
Thanks for your help!
Pierre

Only the good stuff as individual issues. Otherwise you take on too much work.Pierre the Valiant wrote:sell complete sets or individuals?

Thanks for your answers. I am opening and checking the boxes and... there seems to miss at last one box!!! So task is far from being complete and it's upseting... I found the flip-book Rai (Magnus) but not the other series (cf slym2none's question), as of Dr Mirage and lots of others. I just need to find out where these boxes have been put...
Checking every cover is an interesting experience, because after all these years one can witness editorial inflexions and quality changes. As said, I really love the universe but did not read anything connected with it since Acclaim's disparition... What is challenging too is that lots of these issues deserve to be read again
EDIT: I have just found 8 boxes, so there should be what I was looking for inside. Sorry for sharing that, I will focus on topic now.

Preunity issues would probably be worth selling individualy or at least sell them in individual sets by title through Unity. Very little postunity is worth selling individually except the last 2-3 issues of the longer running titiles like Turok, BS, Mags, Solar, XO, EW, and SM.
BTW, I think Slym is buying Rai's.

PtV, I hope you can keep one of everything.......
Valiants always get better with time.
But if you must sell, the Pre-Unis will sell ok, most of the commons, might not be worth selling in large lots. See if you can fill in some holes for dudes here (hopefully you can do like 30-60 at a time so it is worth your while, like my man IAX), then donate the rest to a childrens hosipital or shelters or soemthing. Just my .02.
Multiple copies of the SLoDM will not bring much in return.

That's a problem, I know. The high euro rate too. We well see what the solutions are... My best option would be to find french valiant fans but I don't have ever found one!!Daniel Jackson wrote:Probably not....
I am almost done with "my" collection (my god, what a mess in the Acclaim period...). I am classing the multiples and will write the list within the next days.
Options are delicate: some of you seem to want only pre-unity items but if I have one set of Harbinger 1-25 I don't really want to split it because it seems that I won't sell post-Unity items.
All this said, I am very happy to have found the Valiant community back and can't wait for a new Valiant era either!

I wouldn't say that. I am getting pretty desperate to finish my run, and all I need is post U. So, don't be worried about posting them, It may just surprise you who will by what these days. Not to mention I have some money burning a whole in my pocket that noone will let me spend.Pierre the Valiant wrote:That's a problem, I know. The high euro rate too. I have answered, now. Sorry but stress is high here (I don't know if you have families and if you have already experienced what a move in a smaller place is, especially when you have collections. Add to this some work schedules, bank negociations, and you have a rather... busy period).chainnball wrote:I also sent a PM a week ago with no response
I did not answer to some PM received around august 10th, but not out of lack of interest or something. Just because I am running out of time and because I had no new info.
I prefer to do a complete list before. I suppose that some of you are waiting for it, and I will do asap. Just don't misinterpret my silence!
