Dr. Mirage Print
I've been chatting with Ken Branch via email recently.
He sent me a pic of this Dr. Mirage print.
Has anyone else seen this one before?
I don't believe I've ever come across it.

I actually own one of these prints. The comic shop that I frequent was bought and renamed several years ago (I forget exactly what year, but it was before the Acclaim VH-2 stuff came out). Instead of dealing with a manager of a store in a big chain (Heroes Aren't Hard to Find) who seemed to dislike me for some reason, I was finally dealing with a friendly owner. The owner found out that I was a huge VALIANT fan, and he would ocassionally give me VALIANT-related items that he had lying around in the back of the store. He gave me two of the Quantum & Woody prints (the one where they are in each other's bodies) and one of these prints. I was actually surprised that he just gave me this one since it is signed by Chang. Not too bad for free, huh. Now you've actually got me wondering how rare these are. (I think I may have mentioned this print before in a VALIANT mailing list group, but I don't recall whether I posted a picture of it onine then.)
Edit: Also, I think mine was only signed by Chang (and not this Branch fellow), but I could be mistaken since I haven't looked at it in quite awhile).

Does anyone know for sure? I may buy this from Mr. Branch, butManofTheAtom wrote:Isn't that image a Previews promo?
if it's just a Previews promo I may be able to track one down a bit cheaper.
Also, does anyone have the TV guide that covered the Dr. Mirage/Walt Willey team-up?
Thanks!

i believe the print was mainly used as a promo for the san diego comic con 1994, in which walt willey himself, appeared at the valiant booth to sign stuff, as well as a mailer promo to stores.
the image itself is from the cover to DM#13, in which walt appears as himself, playing an old friend of the mirages. the story revolves around a celtic? tattoo that he actually has on his forearm, which had marked him for sacrifice for a cult leader.

Thanks a lot. I hadn't seen the print before and am glad you could clarify.

Great to read posts by "Dr. Mirage himself"---Bernard Chang! Thanks for the info! Also, great page, Dan! I'd also be looking for the TV Guide with the Mr. Mirage ad, if anyone knows the issue.
When my wife & I got together in 1979, she was already a fan of the soap opera "All My Children", so I knew who Walt was when the comic came out. He is still on AMC, & I believe he is still a very funny part-time stand-up comic.---Steve

Human sacrifice & the number of the beast are a scary combo, IMO!:)
I needed to be off that number like fast, man!:)
Anyway, I believe there were several reasons why Walt appeared in Dr. Mirage. For one, I believe Walt & Bernard are friends, & I also believe I've read where Walt was actually a Valiant comic fan (to what degree, I don't know).
I can dig up some old articles, but Bernard would be the best to answer this question if he is still following this topic, & has the time!:)---Steve

I went to the TV Guide site and all the info they have on the older stuff is the actual covers to the weekly issues. I looked at the covers and nothing is talked about as to Dr. Mirage being inside. Hopefully Bernard can tell us if there was anything in the guide!
