This site's influence
You know, and I think most of y'all would agree, one of the biggest reasons Valiant has surged in price the last couple of years is this web site. Hell, it's quoted as a reference in every other ebay auction, and the ebay prices are forcing the price guides such as Wizard to take another look.
So why don't we ...
A: Pick some crap comic line from the last 15 years.
B: Buy every last one of their comics out of quarter bins and cons and ebay. Hoard the whole damn line!
C: Start a new fan site praising these comics to high heaven, get creators involved, do special signed issues, etc.
D: Wait for the interest to rise.
E: Sell it all on ebay.
F: Move on to the next one.
At the very least it might distract some of these people who are bidding the Valiant stuff out of reach.

Nah...Maxx isn't quarter bin fodder. The last 15 issues routinely sell for cover price or more. #15 and 16 are absurdly scarce, as is 33-35. Whole sets usually sell for $50-$75. Not bad for an image title.prismra wrote:

WTF? Here I thought the MAXX had only 10 issues. What the hell was I thinking?
It's all about the smurfs. They are probably scarce in high grades and you might even convince main stream individuals to jump on the band wagon.

So many lines to choose from. I actually have a reputation at my local comic shop for killing off comic companies. It just seems like everytime I start buying anything not published by DC, Marvel, or Image on a regular basis that that company dies a horrible, painful death. I've gone through so many lines. Off the top of my head, there was VALIANT/Acclaim (they died, what, 3 or 4 different times?), Ultraverse, Gorilla Comics, Impact, and Crossgen. I'm sure I'm leaving off several too. Anyway, I'd suggest Impact for this proposal if it were a serious proposal. It was basically a line of new versions of the classic Archie Comics heroes (Shield, Black Hood, Mighty Crusaders, Fly, Jaguar, the Web, etc.) that DC published as a licensed line in the 90s. There's not a whole lot of titles, I always see the back issues in the cheapie bins, and some of the books were actually good (Shield had some of Mark Waid's work from before or around the time he made it big on The Flash).

Nice! Maxx may not be the most popular book right now, but it's a good series to invest in....IF you stay away from 1-12. There are gobs of those. The Spider wrote:But...
