VEI release plans
So tell me, does the VEI release plans (the two hardcovers to date) reveal any information on their ideas about relaunching the Valiant Universe?
The options for relaunching could be narrowed down to three broad categories.
1) Start fresh with the characters, with a new universe, new history, etc. Rewrite their history as needed. Sort of like starting after Unity 2000 or something. Nothing in what we know as Valiant continuity is certain.
2) Start with the characters at some point in the Valiant continuity, perhaps scratching all events that occured after that new starting point. Sort of like starting fresh from post-Unity, or something like that. Material that has happened prior to the new starting point is considered in continuity, material that happened after it is not.
3) Continue where we left off (either directly, or following a hiatus of some kind). Everything in the Valiant history is considered in continuity and has already occured.
With these hardcovers that they are printing, there are two possibilities.
1) Either they are printing these to get some money and capital for the relaunch, and these books will actually have no bearing on how the relaunch happens.
2) These books ARE part of the relauch (considered in continuity), and as such they do have bearing.
Since these books have new material, I am inclined to think the latter option is more likely. Why would they have new material in the books only to potentially discard it for a relaunch?
As such, it seems the relaunch options have changed. If these books are considered as part of the relaunch, the it appears that either the 2nd or 3rd relaunch option is the goal. Keep some or all of the history.

They're starting with the new story in the XO Hc, the origin of X-O Penguinowar.

I want them to go after those licenses we spoke about that one time (Greatest American Hero, Voyagers!, etc, etc)

I thought it was interesting, and somewhat telling, that Aric is 43 years old now, according to his myspace page.
The more I think about it, I like the idea of starting up again in the present age, with everything that happened back in VH1 having occured 10-15 years in the past.
With the exception, of course, of the stuff that happened in the future.
Or the lost land. But what happens in the lost land stays in the lost land.
