VEI Ongoing
While VEI is awaiting developments on the current situation, why couldn't they launch a new ongoing title with a new character or two? There are plenty of talented creators they could hire to create the book, and it could be done to fit into whatever point of Valiant continuity they plan to pick up at when they are able to get the relaunch going.

Re: VEI Ongoing
My guess is that until all the legal problems are taken care of, that they're not going to launch a new series.StarBrand wrote:While VEI is awaiting developments on the current situation, why couldn't they launch a new ongoing title with a new character or two? That be a good move.
I'm proud of VEI for deciding to reprint the original comics instead of relying on the cliched tactic of rebooting their characters like DC and Marvel do to "keep them fresh and current".
I'm glad that they allowed someone like Aric to grow older and be closer to his 50's than his 30's.
If Indiana Jones can kick Russian butt at 58, Aric can still rule at 43

I would imagine that they need to figure out a way (I'm sure have figured out a way) to recoup their initial investment. If they'd wanted to publish original concepts, they could have done so for far less $$.
Most comic publishers are very open about the fact that the comics themselves aren't where the money comes from--it's from licensing. These origin reprints could be a great pitch for a movie or the like, as well as making as much $ as possible with the reprint itself.
I'm intrigued by their actions and plans to date. Let's hope slow and steady remains their way of doing business.

You make a good point as far as the licensing part. I wish we could've had the VEI concept without the VIP thing interfering. Frankly, I'm surprised no boycott has been organized against the suspected party behind VIP. If they're not VIP they could come out and say so after the boycott began.BloodOfHeroes wrote:I would imagine that they need to figure out a way (I'm sure have figured out a way) to recoup their initial investment. Who's the suspected party? (sorry, but I've got 3+ years of "lost" histroy to try to catch up on, and I haven't read all the conspiracies around VEI/VIP).
And while I'm firmly in the VEI corner, here, I view it as no different than the "Captain Marvel" character. I prefer the "Big Red Cheese" and don't much care for Mar-Vell. Is it annoying that so many people think my preferred character's name is "Shazam"? Absolutely. But the law is the law. So if I have to someday read about Bloodshot in a book called "Rising Spirit," or whatever, I'll be content knowing it's the real Bloodshot. Ditto tales about X-O Manowar in a book called "Dacia," or whatever (stretching there for a lame title, but I'm tired today. Help me out, MOTA!)
I think VIP might have hurt their case by including "Valiant" in their corporate name, as it looks like a way to deliberately "confuse" the issue. That's where I'm hanging my hope hat.

Well, to clarify, you don't have to worry about X-O Manowar, that name is safe. As for Bloodshot, I'm not sure, I thought it was safe because unlike the other TMs that one has the (R) next to it, but who knows anymore...BloodOfHeroes wrote:So if I have to someday read about Bloodshot in a book called "Rising Spirit," or whatever, I'll be content knowing it's the real Bloodshot. The ones that VIP went after are
Secret Weapons, Outcast, Rai and the Future Force, Deathmate, Quantum and Woody, Harbinger, PunX, Dr. Mirage, Eternal Warrior, Ninja, Bloodshot and The Visitor
(you know that if they went after Punx and Deathmate they were just scrapping the bottom of the barrell).

Someone posted scans of all the VIP versions of the trademarks on this board, but I can't find it. Maybe someone else can direct you to them.
