I was about to make a witty post full of titillating jack@ssery, and when I hit Submit, I got the bluehost screen of death.

Luckily I thought of something even better in the downtime..

Perhaps, there should be a sticky at the top with words not to search for :hm:

On a lot of other message boards members will get on you if you don't search before posting on a topic which has been posted. I guess this would be confusing for new members

I just want ot go no record as saying that this nOOb was off. I once tried to overload the site and couldn't during the Midnight Raid some months ago. So don't look at me.

IT WAS ME!

Seriously, it was me. I was going to start a thread and apologize but I just got done with dinner. I was trying to find pictures on here for certain misc. Valiant items to go with the thread I started. So anyways, sorry.

I think a thread like that exists, but I don't remember where.

Let me go search for it. :thumb:

You can stand around and ask questions all day long. I am erring on the side of caution and making a run for it. Good Luck MProyas.

I will go on record to say the search engine in phpBB sucks. It's not very robust, creates a huge hit on the database, etc. I don't blame n00bs and poorly worded searches as much as I blame phpBB's search "feature."

n00bs don't kill phpBB, phpBB kills phpBB.

I don't wanna be no hero, but what if MOTA finally goes on that killing rampage I've been predicting for awhile now...I figure there are a few of us on this site nearly 24/7 that I want to hear it here first so I can plan my day accordingly.

Here's a question for a techie. I was wondering if it would be hard to connect the goggle search to search this site. I've seen other message boards use it. Is it free and how hard would it be to set up?? :hm: :hm:

I often search for the word 'the', as I know most threads use it and I then scroll through those to narrow my search.

:gossip: no point in running, that is just :insane: ...The crossbow will typically shoot its projectile somewhat faster than a bow -- typically 200-220 feet per second, as compared to 180-200 feet per second. But that's because the crossbow bolt only weighs about a third as much as the arrow, not because the crossbow is more `powerful'.

Either way...no point in trying to outrun the projectile...you are just exhausted when it hits :P :poke:

Try opening just regular Google and typing the words you want to search the site for and include the search term site:valiantfans.com just like that, no spaces around the colon on either side.

Might not be 100% up to date and it won't search the members-only sections (the ones that don't show up when you aren't logged in).

To be a noob or not to be a noob, that is the question

Post by terreth »

Well let's see.
To be a noob or not to be a noob, that is the question

1. The down side
a. We get in trouble if we post without searching
b. We get in trouble if we search
c. We get blamed for the site crashing
d. We are constantly threatened with death and dismemberment
*Incidentally, is it any wonder noobs do not post more?

2. The upside
a. We get learn about Valiant and celebrate "the good o'l days," and
hopefully good days to come with the re-launch
b. We get help collecting, and even occasionally free stuff

The choice is easy! :D
