THE QUINTESSENTIAL DINOSAUR HUNTER RETURNS IN GENIUS PRODUCTS AND CLASSIC MEDIA’S TUROK: SON OF STONE

The Legend is Born With DVD Debut February 5th

SANTA MONICA, CA – A great warrior in a lost land is about to find his destiny when TUROK: SON OF STONE charges onto DVD for the first time February 5th from Genius Products and Classic Media. Presented by The Weinstein Company, this Gold Key Production draws on the original 1950s comic book series, as well as influences ranging from Frank Miller to Akira Kurosawa, to create a dark, intense, epic reimagining of Turok®’s origin story. For the generation of fans who grew up on Turok video games as well as new devotees of the legendary franchise, this film is a chance to peer into the heart of the hero — and witness the birth of the legend. Turok gamers will love this return to the original story.

Timed to coincide with the property’s landmark re-launch, the TUROK: SON OF STONE DVD features the vocal talents of Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers, Law and Order: SVU), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Cree Summer (A Different World) and Irene Bedard (Pocahontas).

TUROK: SON OF STONE is directed by Frank Squillace (X-Men: The Animated Series), Curt Geda (Marvel’s Ultimate Avengers), Dan Riba (Batman Beyond).

Tad Stones (Hellboy: Blood and Iron) is supervising director. Evan Baily (Invader Zim) produced the film. Tony Bedard, whose credits include comic book series “Negation” and “Route 666,” wrote the screenplay from a story co-written with Baily. Michael Uslan (Batman Begins) and Deborah Dugan are Executive Producers.

Synopsis

During 20 years in exile, Turok has become a powerful and feared warrior. He now returns home to find his village destroyed and his family slaughtered at the hands of the ruthless tyrant Chichak. On a mission of vengeance, Turok must journey to the Lost Land, a savage place forgotten by time, where primeval beasts hunt all who enter. Turok will face his greatest battle as he fights man-eating dinosaurs, merciless cave dwellers, and the darkness inside himself to take revenge on his sworn enemy. In this epic journey, Turok will find his destiny. In this Lost Land… A legend is born.

The DVD contains exclusive bonus materials including an in-depth look at the Turok property from comic book to video game and now an animated movie. The DVD also includes a commentary by the creators of the film. TUROK: SON OF STONE will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.95.

Special Features:

“Total Turok” - An in-depth look at the Turok property from comic book to video game and now an animated movie.

Who knew Turok would end up becoming one of the most successful VALIANT-related properties?

Hopefully this will lead into some VALIANT animated movies, but unlike the debacle with the X-O and Armorines video games, they'll be good.

so what are the chances that with turok being so far in the public eye right now that classic might be willing to work with a comic company to resume publications?

i mean, both the dvd and the video game...someone's obviously interested in not only the past of turok, but the future as well.

could this multiple licensing, in two different mediums, be a good omen for the potential return of turok and the gang?

Hopefully Dino & Co. have already been discussing that with them.

DVD at Amazon.com . . . the dinosaur has horns? Is that what the dinosaurs look like in the original comics?

After reading this post, I'm reminded of an early suggestion for a Turok live-action show I goofed around with almost 4 years ago on one of my earliest posts:

C'mon, some of my ideas weren't TOO bad...LOL!

Between this and something like "JLA: The Geriatric Frontier", I'm more inclined to order Turok.

This sounds awesome, I'm glad they're taking Turok back to his roots instead of trying to do something 'cool' like the new video game's storyline.

I wonder if this does well if they'll consider doing a Magnus or Solar movie.

If you're in Tennessee, there's 6 different Hastings!

The closest to me is in Murfreesboro, about 45 minutes away.

Actually I'm also really looking forward to JLA: The New Frontier after seeing a teaser for it. If I had known what it was (basically the spiritual sequel to The Golden Age using DC's Silver Age characters) when it was published I would've got the original graphic novels. Between that and Turok I'll probably be getting Blockbuster onlne soon just so I can watch them.

I would much rather DC had let Robinson and Smith do their own version of the Silver Age Elseworlds mini.

According to a small report in Wizard, it was going to be a murder mystery story centered around the Martian Manhunter.

New Frontier was just bland. Superheroes who smile all the time are boring.
