New Original Magnus Painting - Special Type of Auction.

Post by cliffvanmeter »

Three weeks ago I got laid off, its a little more complicated than that, but that's basically it. I also hadn't been paid for about 8-weeks prior. That's me, stupidly loyal. Well things are beyond tight and getting worse. We may loose the house. So I'm looking to do a little different kind of auction and hoping you'll all participate.

At my blog (http://cliffordblog.com), on the right there's a donate button. The person who donates the most in the next 7-days (now till next Friday) gets the painting. Whatever amount, doesn't matter, they get the painting. The number 2 and 3 highest donors get an 11x14 pen & ink character drawings of their choice. The only additional cost will be shipping. You can donate as many times as you like, just like an auction to stay on top. I'll post the donors and amounts each evening at the blog starting tomorrow so you can tell who is in the lead.

Any donation is appreciated, not matter how small. Really, trust me, at this point there is no dollar amount that wouldn't help.

Here's what you win -- Its an 11x14 inch museum-wrapped stretched canvas with fully painted sides (they match the background). Its ready to hang without the need for a frame.

Thanks,

Current Donations

Post by cliffvanmeter »

As mentioned above, I'm also posting these on my blog. The current top (and only) donor is Neil Cameron @ $25. Right now Neil stands to win the painting. Thanks Neil. Remember the 2 and 3 donors get the 11x14 character piece of their choice (pen and ink). All you have to do is hit the donate button at http://cliffordblog.com.

Thanks,

Cliff

Donation So Far --

Post by cliffvanmeter »

Well, its moving a bit slower than I'd hoped, but we have two donors so far.

Neil Cameron @$25 is currently the leader for the painting.
Jared Hayes @ $5 is in the running for one of the character drawings.

That's all we have as of now. I'm hoping (like an Ebay auction) you are all waiting till the end to jump in. Every little bit helps though, and I want to thank you for the donations so far and for your kinds words and thoughts.

Im sure alot are Cliff. I wouldnt worry about it. In the last minute im sure you will get quite a few good sized donations. Like myself, I cant make multiple donations, then come up with nothing at the end. Im also in a bad cash spot, so waiting till the end to see where its at and see if i can afford.

Would love to help more, but being tight myself, I cant donate, then see it go out of my reach, and have to stop, not having a chance to win. Bidding would be different. Not to sound like I dont want to help out or anything. Its just I cant justify donating atm without having a shot at it with my current finances.

Best of luck to you. I admire your work, and I hope everything works out for the best.

Should we end it early? Tues or Wed?

Post by cliffvanmeter »

Given the slow response, and that a bunch seem to agree with me that people are waiting till the end, should we call it earlier or let it run till Friday? I'm open to suggestions -- if we end if Tuesday or Wednesday would that be a better idea. 7-days was a pretty arbitrary choice.

Leave it. Some people don't allways read the board regularly enough to know there would be a change.

Okay -- Friday it is then.

Post by cliffvanmeter »

So 8:30 PM Friday (EST), we'll stick a fork in it and call it done. Meantime -- the same two donors have donated and are in the running for the painting and drawing.

Bump.

I'm believing and hoping that people are waiting closer to the end. It would be a shame to think that members are only generous toward charities here and that actual individuals go by the wayside when in need.

I personally can't give much myself, but I gave what little I could.

Good luck to you Cliff.

Magnus Painting going till 8:30 PST!

Post by cliffvanmeter »

It occurred to me that a) Magnus may have scared everyone else off -- and b) there might have been a misunderstanding about the ending time for the auction, since the forum clock is 3hrs behind my local time. So I'm going to let the auction run till 8:30 Forum (PST?) time.

Also, since there have been so few bidders overall, and I really do mean it when I say that every contribution is appreciated, I'm going to make sure that every contributor gets something.

So, we'll do it like this -- Top donor gets the painting, next two get 11x14 pen and ink drawings, everyone else gets something like a convention sketch of their character of choice (smaller -- might be pencil might be pen -- simple, no background head and shoulders -- maybe a bit more -- type sketch). Hope you all don't mind the last minute rules change, but I felt bad that some of the early donors got pushed out -- I think they deserve something besides just my gratitude.

Thank you all.

Current Donors --
Lee - $5
Jared Hayes - $10 (2 donations)
Neil Cameron - $25
Michael Borrelli - $30
Greg Holland - $45 (2 donations)
Magnus Ramstrom - $100
