No new bids in a while. IMO, bad ending time for this on a Sunday night, very late.
On a book like this, the bidding wont take place until last minute. Everyone thats going to bid already has their snipes up. Ending time on this makes no difference. Last I looked there were almost 700 views. Whoevers in on it, are already ready to go. Cant wait to see the outcome.
That depends entirely on where "the rest of the market is"....I have no doubt that the vast majority of snipes have been left in the dust.

The bidding, interestingly enough, is by three people....mostly the lead guy, who made a very determined bid, plus the third place guy who sat there and made pecking bids after discovering his just over $1000+ bid made on Mar 26 was outbid....I'm sure he was NOT pleased. ;)

Then, along comes someone else....with a $1591 bid...STILL not enough.

A couple of people REALLLLLLLLY want this book.....

Nah....I'd be lucky if I got 2-3 9.6s. I'm certain I have no 9.8s.

As for the raw Harby #1 NM for $50.....

By the by...$2550.

I was wrong.

(it's a very nice thing to be wrong about.)

Ok, now let's analyze. Two people, and two people alone, comprised the last $1000.

When there's such a HUGE leap in price to the third high bidder, you can essentially state that this was a bidding war.

The second high bidder put in a bid he probably felt for SURE didn't stand a chance of being beaten...and he probably would have been right on any other day.

Notice the absence of other bids between $1591 and $2550.

But...the high bidder just wanted it more.

Is this a valid value....?

The only way to test that is to put another one up soon.

But, of course, it's now a new record, which is really neat.

I think whoever won must of just put some ridiculous final bid like 10k just to ensure they won, no matter what the cost was.

The $50 Harby #1 auction is nice, but.....the winner, if I'm not mistaken, is speedracex who used to be a member here (and who sold his VfVSS for some TREMENDOUS personal profits)....so....?

I could be wrong.

Still and all, it's nice to have the MARKET justify your prices, instead of trying to be greedy.

Are you saying that SpeedRX, just bought the Harby 9.8, or the $50 harby?

Valiant continues to remind me of Marvel in the days when Marvel keys were still affordable. I'm a buyer of Valiant keys at the moment, not a seller.
Shooter was right when he said Harbinger 1 was as important as Avengers 1. It just took awhile to start showing it.

Great use of the "line".

I remember the first time I read that in Harby #1. That is really something.

I am also a buyer of Valiant keys...... and proud holder on many of them.

I still say CGC 9.6 is the place to be.

Average on CGC 9.6 Harbinger #1 has been $125.
Until tonight, that was about 10% of the 9.8 price.
Now it's about 5%. :thumb:

What was Amazing Spider-man #1 worth when it was 16 years old? :hm:
(You've got the 1979 Overstreet handy, right?)
