Ok peoples, I received my first two books: VISITOR and ARMORINES
They look very cool!!Everything came out well.. its fun to flip through them and enjoy the story as a whole..
I have only one little itsy bitsy tinie tiny problemo...
They put the wrong binding on the wrong books.. so the outside of my tan books entitles ARMORINES with the gold ribbon marker and gold lettering has the Visitor issues in it
and...
The blue book with blue ribbon marker and sliver lettering has my Armorines books in it..
Im kind of out of thoughts for a moment....not sure what to think or do...
I used plastic wrap to wrap the books and placed the slip on the top. Dont you think they would have taken the time to check the titles with the books inside????
I guess Ill give them a call and let them know.. but now Im kind of scared to send them more sets...
Any suggestions?

Ok, I called and spoke to a man there. He seemed nice enough and was very apologetic for the mishap. He asked me to send them back and he would make new covers or switch them or something like that ..
Ok, so, I'll send them back with a few more new books to be bound and see what happens in 3 months?
naa...
Im sure it will be fine

I am sorry to hear that.
Aside from the whole title swap, how do you like the books?
And Library Binding is pretty good at fixing their mistakes, so I would say dont worry too much, as they will likely push the repair job to the front of the line.

They seem like good folk..
Im happy with the books. I think they look great! Except for the mistake LOL..
I liked the colors I picked for the covers.
I liked the colors for the ink.
I like the binding itself. It seems to be durable and the craftmanship looks great.
I like the ribbon markers that I chose and the colors.
I had them put on the head and tail bonds, which they color coordinated.. which look tasteful.
I did not get a die stamp as they are too expensive.
Things I will try next:
I had them put on Head and Tail Lines.. I think Ill skip this on the next set.
Im thinking about taking the back covers off the issues I send in. Not really to make the books less thick but as I open the bound book, the pages tend to automatically open to where the covers meet.. and then you only see the interiors of the covers, not the exteriors, because the covers tend to static stick together. The only thing the back covers are good for are advertising. I dont mind the advertising on the inside, but with the back cover causing a bit of frustration, Id rather get dir of it.
Im happy
Now I need to send them BACK ... to get fixed. Ill send along another several books too, see if they can get the next two right

Magnus and Rai maps
I finally got around to getting my Magnus and Rai books ready for binding. These became a bit of a problem because of the Malev War Saga, so the volumes are a bit bigger than I'd like . . . but here are my thoughts
Magnus Robot Fighter
Book 1 - Magnus Robot Fighter 0-20 (748 pages)
This also involves splitting up Magnus 5-8 and flipping the Rai sections so that the complete Invasion storyline reads correctly (there is one concern, the last page of Rai 1 has the last page of the Magnus story on its back side ... although the TPB might solve that problem! And I have scanned the page at 600 dpi and it will be available if anybody else wants to print it out.)
Book 2 - The Malev War (This is a BIG ONE! -- 1080 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 21 - 24
Rai and the Future Force 9
Magnus Robot Fighter 25
Rai and the Future Force 10 - 11
Magnus Robot Fighter 26 - 29
Rai and the Future Force 15
Magnus Robot Fighter 30
Rai and the Future Force 16
Magnus Robot Fighter 31
Rai and the Future Force 17
Magnus Robot Fighter 32 - 33

Magnus Robot Fighter 36
Rai and the Future Force 21
Magnus Robot Fighter 37
Rai and the Future Force 22 - 23
Magnus Robot Fighter 38
Book 3 - The Rest of VH-1 Magnus (1060 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 39 - 40
Magnus Yearbook 1
Magnus Robot Fighter 41 - 42
Chaos Effect Epilogue 1 - 2
Magnus Robot Fighter 43 - 64
Book 4 - VH-2 and Croosovers (792 pages)
Magnus/Nexus 1 - 2
Predator vs Magnus 1 - 2
Magnus Robot Fighter v2 1 - 18
Rai
Book 1 (732 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 5 - 8
Rai 1 - 8
Rai Companion 1
Rai 0
Rai and the Future Force 9
Magnus Robot Fighter 25
Rai and the Future Force 10 - 14
Book 2 (972 pages)
Rai and the Future Force 15
Magnus Robot Fighter 30
Rai and the Future Force 16
Magnus Robot Fighter 31

Magnus Robot Fighter 32 - 33

Rai and the Future Force 20
Magnus Robot Fighter 36
Rai and the Future Force 21
Magnus Robot Fighter 37

Rai 24 - 33
I thought about adding the N.I.O. miniseries, but that made the second volume unnecessaily large and N.I.O. is only peripherally related to Rai. I opted instead to add to a planned VH-2/VH-3 miscellany book.

Sweet post!
Id like have that picture available. Can you put it in your photobucket or send it to me and Ill add it to my photo bucket and then post a link in the initial post?
Yes, those end up being VERY big books.
At the end of each of those issues, does it state: Continued in .. (next issue in the other title)? For example: At the end of MRF 24, does it say to continue the story in Rai ATF: 9??
Im not sure if I will go with puttiung these books together just because they are so big and there is too much crossover for me. Ill just have both bound books out reading them at the same time.
Or could you just combine all those issues into one book called Magnus2/Rai2 ??? Then you would only need to have one book created.. although it would only site with one of the other series of books.. and not with the other.
Just some ideas..
Send me that pic, or post it please

I haven't sent them in yet, but as soon as they return from the binder I will post pictures. I expect to send them out to Library Binding this Thursday.
re: the notations about being continued. It really varies. Some of the issues had the note at the end, telling you to go to the other series. And at least one story arc (The Battle for South Am) had notes on the initial splash page, warning the reader that they needed to read a certain issue first.
I kinda like the combined Magnus/Rai Book 2 and if I were starting my bindings today, I would probably do that. But since I've been keeping each series together and binding duplicates where appropriate, I'm going that route -- separate books.
Another consideration would how to merge Psi-Lords into the Magnus/Rai series. Although the main Psi-Lords series doesn't seem to crossover with the Malev War, the Psi-Lords figure prominently in the Valiant future storylines. I think the easier solution for those is keep them separate (except for adding Destroyer to Psi-Lords)

I'll most likely do the one book for Magnus/ Rai.. just becasue I would have two of the same book with different covers...
Ive been slicing off the back covers to many of my books in preperation of sending my next lot into LBC. I use an Exacto knife to do it. It works well.
Also with the wrap around covers, I have been using my Exacto to slice the cover just under the staple so I can pull the cover off, fold it, and set it on top of that issue.
I guess Im working most on the 'easy' sets, which only include a few crossover books. Ill be going to the Motor City Con in hopes of picking up some issues to fill in the gaps in the other books.
Are you going to come to the Motor City Comic Con???

Really doubtful. It's about a four-hour drive for me and having just spent a three-day weekend at NY Comic Con, I'd be pushing the limits of my wife's understanding! Are you going to come to the Motor City Comic Con???
I am seriously considering the Mid Ohio Con in October, though. By then I should have my complete VH-1 and VH-2 sets bound and I can see about getting some additional autographs in them.
I was able to get Bernard Chang to sign and sketch in my Visitor bound volume. Bob Almond signed my VH-2 Bloodshot book and was pleasant surprised that I bound the compelte run. Bob Layton signed my Unity book and Rags Morales signed my first volume of Turok. Now it's just a matter of checking what Valiant creators are attending the cons I do manage to get to.

I want to make sure it looks good the first time.. I hope the printer lady is patient with me

I just want to make sure I respect everyone/everything involved

Dino gave me the go ahead..
Im going to talk with the print agency tomorrow. I think they will charge about $10 for printed copies that will fit directly in out bound books. The prints will be on very nice paper and will be double side, just like a comic
Let me know if you want a copy
Of course, if you want to do this, you may find a cheaper way to print it up, maybe on your home printer or something.. I just wanted to get it done right.. im a little anal that way
Another book Ill be able to send out this week
