with there being 5 available, I honestly don't look at this being that rare. Yes rarer then a 9.8, but as far as 10.0 books go. Or am I missing the math Mr.Greg

This book seems to always grade high

This is a weird case, because CGC 10 is supposed to be "the best",
but we have four different books tied for "the best".

The best solution that I can think of would be to compare sales of
other books which have a similar "ease" of finding CGC 10.

There are 4 copies of X-O Manowar #0 in CGC 10 out of 163 copies graded.

Let's compare to the 4 copies of Punisher: The End #1 in CGC 10 out of 160 copies graded.

Sales of CGC 10 Punisher: The End #1 were
$280, $150, $140, and $140.

The "first sale" was strong at $280, but since then, three sales around $145.

Previous sales of CGC 10 X-O Manowar #0 were $200 and $205.
Those prices match the price of the copy currently up for sale.
It's higher than the Punisher example, but not outrageously higher.

If we really want to talk about "common in CGC 10", we should look at Avengers/JLA #4,
which has 36 copies graded as CGC 10 out of 138 copies graded.

The average sale price of Avengers/JLA #4 CGC 10 has been $110,
and there are 36 of them!

I guess the "novelty" of the CGC 10 grade has a value unto itself ($100?),
simply because there are only 1,121 books in CGC 10 slabs
even though they've graded over a million.

2,000 would put CGC 10 X-O Manowar #0 right in the middle of the "official VVSS" numbers.

What do we pay for those? $50? $100?

I could see this book selling for $125+ even if there were a hundred of them. There are four.

That's true, it's a small market, but when you really think about it...
every comic book is a small market.

While there are probably hundreds of thousands of collectors who would LIKE to own Amazing Fantasy #15,
there are probably only a few dozen who can seriously consider purchasing a high grade copy.

While millions of people like Spider-man, if you have a $100 Spider-man book for sale,
odds are that only a few dozen people will click on the auction, and you'll get a few bids.

I know we like to talk about how many people "know about" characters like Spider-man, Batman, etc.,
but that doesn't mean that millions of people put their bids in on eBay auctions for them.
Thousands? Probably, but not for every single auction.

Any random auction for Spider-man, Batman, or other well-known character
probably has about the same number of viewers and bidders as the
"top interest" Valiant items.

The market as a whole is large for the mainstream characters,
but any particular auction is a small audience.

From that standpoint, Valiant auctions of interest to a few dozen guys
who may or may not be on this messageboard are behaving exactly
the same way that the mainstream character auctions behave.

There may be more of the well-known stuff, more auctions, more "solid foundation"
when it comes to the number of collectors, amount of stuff, etc.,
but when it comes to a particular auction on a particular day,
Valiant probably gets the same amount of "activity" as the big guys.

We put ourselves down too much.

At the San Diego Comic Con 2005, our Valiant Fans meeting had to clear the room at 2:00 (or whatever time)
because the Japanese Joint-Articulated Ceramic Doll Collectors were coming in.

If there are 80,000,000 of those in existence (like there are Valiant comics),
I'll eat my hat.

XO is chromium which is easier to get in high grade. I bet there are more 10s out there that just havent been submitted

What an odd statement.

It's odd for several reasons.

First off, no one really questioned anyone's beliefs.

Second, I'm certain that most people on this board WELCOME challenges to their beliefs....after all, as iron sharpens iron, that which is strong is only strengthened by adversity. That which is weak and worthless will crumble and fall away. So, if a belief...about anything....isn't strong enough to be challenged, it probably isn't one worth having.

After all....an opinion worth having is an opinion worth fighting for....
