Rob did more for the industry than you could ever dream of.
His artwork is edgy and cool. You just don't "get it."
Rob Liefeld is my hero.

Rob at one point had enough clout to get Alan Moore to write *SQUEE* Youngblood.Squirrel wrote:well I guess we all low standards at some points in our livesDrift wrote:You people don't know what you art talking about.whovianone wrote:Squirrel wrote:Liefeld art is some of the worst to hit a comic shop shelf...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/Brigade-1-CGC-9-8-G ... dZViewItem

So while he cant draw feet properly, or really on time (though many pencilers have this problem Jim Lee, JG Jones, Steve McNiven, Bryan Hitch, Travis Charest to name a few) and unleashed an army of Extreme Studio pencilling clones upon the world, even with all that I will never understand the sheer level of hatred he brings out in comic fandom.
He made a bit of money due to a confluence of events that he really didnt control, he was just a guy who wrote (allegedly) and penciled books and published them through a company he started.
Though a brigade 1-gold 9.8 technically should be worthless but hey capatalism rules.

I am a Rob Liefeld fan.
There...I said it.
I know his writing is very weak, his art is confounding and his characters are a bit stale, but I like and collect his work.
His work ethic could be a lot better and he's *SQUEE* a lot of people off with delays and the like, but so have a lot of guys who are more well respected than him and they don't catch half the flak.
The main reason I like him is because everything he does or says simply DRIPS with enthusiasm. It's nice to follow someone like him, who I believe hasn't got a cynical bone in his body. If no one else in the comic book industry believes in themselves, everyone can agree that Rob Liefeld does and it shows.
He's had a few good concepts and I believe if he'd had the foresight to hire better writers early on Youngblood and Supreme would have been brilliant. Doom's IV? Well...I'll concede that one.
And anybody collecting comics in the early 90's.....you know damn well you were in line for X-Force and Youngblood #1 with everybody else.

I don't think that was the case since they also had 2 CGC 9.6 Solars for sale.greg wrote:They probably pulled them to send to CGC.
My guess is that they used a 9.8 prescreen for most of their books (including Solar #10),
and they just realized that few at 9.6 would be more profitable than "raw".

Yep... I think you're right. I don't know why they pulled them then...x-omatic wrote:I don't think that was the case since they also had 2 CGC 9.6 Solars for sale.greg wrote:They probably pulled them to send to CGC.

unless they decided it would be worth the time to sell them separately.

I bought..and no, I'm not kidding here....I bought 550 copies of Brigade #1 Gold for 55 cents each from Steve Schanes personally in 2000.Jay Tomio wrote:You should have grabbed that lot of comics with the Brigade Gold afterall!ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/Brigade-1-CGC-9-8-G ... dZViewItem

Along with more of Supreme, Youngblood #0, and the like. Plus my sealed case of Darker Image #1 Gold.

Steve Schanes is the guy who owned, along with his brother, Pacific Comics, and later Blackthorne Publishing.
He acquired these directly from Image.
They are, without a doubt, 9.8s across the board. Bagged in 10 packs from the second they were printed, then stored until sold to me, then stored by me.
If I wouldn't get 500 9.8s out of that lot, I'd be REALLLLLY surprised.

Edit, looked it up on Google. Found the following. People needing at least a minimum of sanity in their world should not look at it.

To answer Jay a bit more, I have seen extremely little of anything he has done.

Solar #10 lots
I was the high bidder on both Solar #10 lots. I had a $60 bid on each lot of 4 raw books. It has been awhile since I have bought Valiants and thought this would be a good place to start buying again. I can not believe what the cgc 9.8 are going for. I step away for couple of years ...

Actually I dont think Mack has recieved any sort of flak sales wise for his tracing debacle. I mean certain newsarama posters went to really ridiculous lengths to find apparent swipes some were obvious the harder ones(well if you have to break out multiple references and breakdowns that show the posture could have been a swipe but might not be, its probably not).Squirrel wrote:JustCallMeAric wrote:Gotta admit Liefeld gets hated on way more than he deserves. I would change jobs with the guy in a second, even if everyone hated me.
Liefeld and David Mack should team up....there'd be a lot of fan hatred in that book
Regardless I would buy a Mack/Liefeld collaboration, provided it actually came out. I love Kabuki but he is a tad slow and Liefeld never met a deadline he couldnt break no matter how much lead time he is given. Kinda like JG Jones I suppose.
