Finally! (left my first neg)

Post by Dr. Solar »

So, I keep hearing horror stories on here about ebay. I have never really had any. I've never had any problems. Until today.

I bid and won this auction:
Green Lantern 39
Yeah, it was a 0 feedback seller, but I figured everyone has to start somewhere, and it was cheap enough to take a chance.

I won. When I got the comic, it was in a 9x12 envelope with bag and board. Rolled up and crunched into my little mail box in my apartment building. No cardboard to keep it rigid, nothing. On top of that, the seller shipped it first class mail, which cost $1. He charged me $5.

I sent this message:
Hey there, I received the comic I won from you today. There was a bit of a problem though with the packaging. Because of the way it was packaged, the comic was bent and possible creased. Since I do not know the condition of the comic before you sent it, I don't know how much of the damage was from the shipping method, but the shipping was not secure enough to prevent damage. Let me know what you would like to do about this. Thanks. ~Sean
And got this response:
you paid 99 cents for the comic so what do you expect.
I left him a prompt neg. Now he has -1, 0% feedback. First time I ever left a neg for somebody.

So now, a question. How do I block other ebay members? I looked around the ebay site, and couldn't find it.

Anyone know where it is?

You can block bidders/buyers but you cannot block sellers.

Like you said, at least not too much money was involved. If you paid by cc you can ask them to reimburse you. But for $6, ehhh, not sure if you want to be on hold for 20 min and dealing with it.

I paid from my Paypal balance, not CC. $6 isn't really worth it.

It's weird, because the comic was in about VG to VG- condition. There might not have been any extra damage to the book, but I really don't know because the packaging was so poor.

The crazy thing is that the dude could have avoided a neg if he had just said, "sorry, here's $3 back", or PUT A PIECE OF CARDBOARD in the envelope.

Then open a paypal dispute. They'll grant you the money. You should do it on principle.

Paypal requires you to send the item back for any type of refund. IF you don't they close the claim without notice. They really suck on resolving disputes since merged with ebay.

I think its best to just get on with your life dude and not give it any more of your time.

Sometimes its just not worth the brain power.

The guy was a prize tool.

Karma will eat him up eventually.

It isn't showing up for me.

Yes, I consider this matter closed. $6 is a tolerable price for what I got.

It's not showing up for me either. Probably a firewall issue where ever you're at. There are quite a few avatars and other images I don't see here at work, but I can see just fine from home.

I see it now! Did you move the file to another location?

It is both disturbing and hilarious at the same time!

Have you ever seen the entire animation that your avatar is from? I believe it is called "Rejected", and it is hilarious, demented, and disturbing.

You will love it, if you haven't already seen it.

Eh, most threads run their course after a post or two. The fact that this one was on track for 5 or 6 posts is actually quite good.
