I picked up The Twelve #1 and #2 a few weeks ago and thought it was really good. Much better than Project Superpowers. So I went back and bought the rest of the back issues they had (I'm missing 0 and 5), added it to my pull list at MailOrderComics and removed Project Superpowers.

I think it's time for me to re-evaluate the books I get and drop some and add some replacements. When I placed my order at MOC last night, I looked at my list and realized I don't enjoy most of those books like I used to.

I already dropped Amazing Spider-Man because of the continuity stupidity. Ghost Rider used to be a favorite, but this new writer and artist team just isn't working out for me. As much as I love Shooter, I really don't care for the Legion. The Flash is OK, but it just isn't the same without Mark Waid. Maybe it's just me, but I find myself losing interest in most of the new books I'm buying.

Thats exactly how I felt the past year or 2 but there's some very good books coming out each month right now.

All the stuff you mentioned is rubbish and should be dropped though

Forgot to mention as well Batman was one book I dropped after a run of issues when Morrisson first came on board. I didnt know wtf was going on with those vampire bats.

I just picked it up again with the start of RIP though and it has been AWESOME.

I'm reading Sahdowman v2.

A week ago I read the Batman:LotDK Shaman story arc and the Goning Sane arc.

Both were ok.

I also just read the Legion Great Darkness TBP. I liked the story, but I was so confused with all the "-lad", "-boy", "-girl" characters.

So is that in light of all the licensing being up for grabs.

I said before they wont find anyone with the same passion to a better job IMO.

Im still twenty short of all the DDP/Image books and look forward to digging in some time.

I'll give him the benefit of the HC to check it out myself. I thought the title choice was odd as he's a fantastic crime writer but I hope he is given enough rope to try make the transition. I think he's also taking over Iron Fist as well and I'm excited about that as well.
Tim is being nice. Do NOT give Duane the benefit of the doubt on this one Jay. Its not an opinion, its an empirical fact - Cable sucks balls.

Its not that the writing was bad, slow, unoriginal etc. Its that there IS NO WRITING. Cable (and Bishop) basically stand around for THREE issues doing NOTHING.

Its like the beginning of The good, the bad and the ugly. Except without the Morricone score and for the entire movie.

Really disappointing because Olivetti was doing one of the best jobs on PWJ.

I also stopped picking up X-force. Just wasn't that into it.

I grabbed the old man Logan issue of Wolvie, seems a bit interesting.

Final Crisis
Locke & Key
Young Liars
Superman/Batman
All-Star Superman
All-Star Batman (when it comes out)
Skaar son of Hulk
The Twelve
Action Comics
Uncanny X-Men

Oh, I'm buying it! Too many books that are undersold and under-talked about that I think are excellent. Omega the Unknown is clearly the best written MARVEL title since its been out and nobody really talks about. Standing around for a few issues is not something that scares me, and I don't think comics have to be more if written well. Now, that doesn't mean I will end up loving it, or even liking it, but I have already decided to give it a shot.

I've read the first couple of issues it's hasn't turned me off to the title (neither has it blown me away), and I know a lot of people online are saying negative things about the title and they may very well end up being right and I admit I like the Cable/Deadpool incarnation much better from what I have seen thus far.

Olivetti is neither a draw or a repellent to me but I don't like his art in this book and I think it stunts the flow of the book, and I'm not sure who does the covers but I don't like them either.
Masochist. Absolute masochist lol

Fables
Young Liars
DMZ in tpb
100 Bullets in tpb

All Star Batman and Robin
All Star Superman
Batman(till morrison is no longer writing)
Final Crisis(picked up issue 1, didnt read countdown so the continuity flubs do not phase me at all)

Spiderman (one more day was not good, brand new day has made it worth it)
Astonishing X-Men(I am a warren ellis *SQUEE*)
Secret Invasion(better than I thought it would be)
I am getting Mighty and New Avengers for the crossover but thats it, any tie in series not written by Bendis I figure I dont need.
Daredevil (rucka and brubaker back together)

Cassanova(though it just went on hiatus with issue 14 while Fraction cashes some fat X-men checks.)
The Boys in tpb
Angel
Buffy(I am a Joss Whedon *SQUEE* as well)
No Hero(even though its by the team that hasnt finished Black Summer yet)

ncameron wrote:Spiderman (one more day was not good, brand new day has made it worth it)
That has really frustrated me more than any other book. I got the first couple of months worth of Brand New Day, and yeah, the writing was top notch. It did indeed get back to what made Spider-Man so great in the 70s. But THAT is the problem. This isn't the 70s. We've moved on. I've moved on as a reader, Spider-Man & Peter Parker have moved on as characters, and Marvel has moved on as a universe. If they want to tell new stories from that era, then do so. But you can't reverse time. Why try to go backward with the character and put him back in situations he's already been in? What's so hard about moving forward? Why futz up the continuity? That was totally unnecessary. Spider-Man can be fun and entertaining and the writing can be great without screwing up the continuity and invalidating my personal investment in the character. If you don't want Peter and Mary Jane to be married, then deal with it in present. Do something compelling instead of just making it go away and say you don't have to explain it because it's magic.

Regardless of how good the writing is, Peter no longer married, acting like a teenager again and living with his feeble old aunt, Harry being alive (heck, why not Gwen too??), money problems, friend problems, and such set in modern Marvel continuity just doesn't feel right.

It really pained me, but I dropped ASM because this bothered me so much. To me, this whole thing is even worse than the clone saga (as a concept). When the proper continuity is restored, I will start buying it again.
