My first Silver Age Marvel...

This was just too good for me to pass up...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6512613053

X-Men 22 (1966) CGC 6.0 - $25.49

First of all, CGC grading fees for this book=$29, or $23.20 with 20% discount.

Secondly, I can tell you that I rarely see these type of Fine-or-better books locally,
and if there are any, they are always 100%+ of Overstreet (this 6.0 guides for $39 raw).
(That is, if the ungraded copy isn't being described and priced as "VF" by the local 'experts'.)

There may be lots of "bad investments" for CGC books out there...
but I just can't see a downside with something like this.
Maybe mid-grade Silver Age books can be my "second hobby", since Valiant is still #1. :P
Actually, it will probably be 10 years before I buy another one.

Another upside to what I agree is a great buy is that 55 X-men fans just saw your ebay user name of www.valiantcomics.com

Maybe we should set you up with an advertising budet and you can go around ebay buying the cheapest books just so people see the site name. Or better yet bid early on big books like Amazing Fantasy 15 and if you win by some freak of ebay you just scored spidey's first app!

Greg...

super grab my man, truly. Sometimes some nice gems slip through on Ebay without many noticing :thumb: and that book is without a doubt, one of those gems for paltry $25.00 :o

Excellent...

Greg that is a pretty good score as I have been hunting down Silver Age X-Men books for the past few months on ebay. That book usually averages on around $20-25 ungraded in Fine condition. Glad I'm not the only one looking for Silver Age X-Men's on this board. :D So how does your X-Men collection look like now?

Wait! I just remembered that I also have an ungraded VG copy of X-Men #53.
Now, I wonder why I would have bought that particular issue... :D

Nice book, Greg! Mid grade graded silver age books, I think, are a great value. I bet when you get that book, it will look a lot better than 95% of the ungraded x-men 22 F sold on e-bay for about the same or more!! Especially considering the bright red cover!

Hmmm.... I think I need to grab me a 53.

Not bad. Your second silver age Marvel? Wow. I don't remember what was my first. Maybe my X-Men #45?

Anyhoo...you can break that out and sell it as a VF/NM on eBay!

No, really, you can! :)
