Ebay alternatives?

Post by J-Scott-R »

I've had some pretty bad experiences with Ebay and Paypal over the past few weeks and with these upcomiing changes I have about had it with both of them. Are there any options out there for me to use? :!:

As far as comics go? :?

I think we have to face facts. We invested so much into the 'Bay and not enough into the competition.

It's the same mistake we made with Wal-mart. We liked the convenience of it so much it just took over.

I try to shop at K-mart, Sears, and my local supermarkets more often myself.

If people WANT TO CHANGE, eventually they will and we will have a better alternative.

It does happen. Just look at Microsoft Windows. They were a monopoly until people gave Apple and Linux a chance.

Dude, Microsoft has been dominating for like 30 years.

I don't think Apple really wants that much of the market. They are extremely profitable while filling their little "niche" in the computer market.

Microsoft may have dominated the OS industry, but they dropped the ball on Vista. They pretty much hit their climax and we're already seeing the down trend. I work on the network side, but interact quite a bit with the HelpDesk folks. They're already telling me that they are getting too many requests to downgrade Vista back to XP or requesting to get a MAC or Linux box. Microsoft pretty much admitted that Vista was a dud when they decided to keep XP on the shelf.

Anyways to get back on topic...unfortunately there's no other auction house that gets as much traffic as Ebay does for comics. The only other option is to sell it on forum boards like here or CGC.

Let's see, there's Blujay (http://www.blujay.com), Ecrater (http://www.ecrater.com), Bonanzle (http://www.bonanzle.com), and "Atomic Mall" (http://www.atomicmall.com).

The last two are fairly new although you need to be really careful while over at the Bonanzle site (they have a wicked sense of humor and a ghost too).
You should join me on Listia (an Ebay alternative site that uses credits system instead of $$$) to get some cool free stuff plus a special bonus gift here: http://listia.com/signup/757766

I remember when www.iOffer.com used to be great for picking up bargains on comics, but no longer. They get some traffic, and I have sold a few things there...

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
